Here's where I stand:

I saw the blog post originally on Steven's site, when it was originally posted last week as he's a friend of mine.

I personally don't agree with what he said, the whole situation got taken out of hand, but the fault lies more with the org, not with Steven or what he wrote. It's easy to get hysterical and pissed off when everyone else is doing the same - and what he wrote is NOTHING, repeat NOTHING, compared to the vitriol that dozens of orgers were spewing at the time. All of a sudden what he wrote gets posted somewhere else and some of you change your tune.

This was never a big deal, I was never pissed off (then again since I had changed my card I didn't personally get charged), and some of you will recall I was trying to diffuse the situation and calm people down in the original thread.

But don't act like some of you that are now trying to pretend you were chill the whole time weren't equally as pissed off at the time. Pretty much most of y'all were making a mountain out of a molehill, and now many of you are realizing just how much you over-reacted.

Good point (see bolded), and why I posted it, as I stated earlier. Just holding a mirror 2 a sliver of what was being said on the ORG at that time, and letting folks gain that perspective.

I also said that this was simply an article referencing one blog, then referencing the ORG.

When exact quotes from the ORG appear in an article that Google News picks up, it is, in fact, putting it on blast.

This story is never going to hit the "mainstream" media. My "name-calling" of P, by calling him a dick, is not meant to be malicious. It is written humorously, but I do mean it. While the $77 fee may have been refunded (which I also posted about), Prince has a lot on his plate legally at the current time and people outside of the Org generally don't know about it. He doesn't just deserve a pass for being Prince, sorry. There's a point in time where people need to stop making excuses for the man.

How is calling someone a d*ck not not to be taken maliciously? That's the lowest of low name to call someone. How many people would you call that to their face? I know that if I called someone that to their face, we're gonna be throwing hands soon after.

Once we write what we say here, typically it can't be taken back. I do not want anything I say here to come bite me on my ass on-line or off-line. That's the best position to take, even with "Purple Rage" or being charge the $77 which my wife and I were charge also.

@Giovanni, it's all good. I just wanted to be sure that you knew this was actually wholly originating from the Org itself.

@PurpleLove7, I would call a lot of people "dick" to their face, including Prince, had he not remedied the $77 problem. If I were in charge of the Croke Park event that Prince canceled, I'd probably call him a dick. If I were in charge of the 3121 Perfume, I'd call him a dick. It's pretty simple, don't want to be called a dick? Don't be a dick. Perhaps if you could sense humor and/or sarcasm I wouldn't even be breaking this down for you. That article, while written with a severely sarcastic tone, was my reaction to the $77 charge. It's not a malicious attempt to severely hurt Prince, it was my reaction and it was a fair one at that. And seriously? "Dick" is the worst thing you can call someone? Really?

Anyway, I've said what I need to about this topic, just wanted to make sure everyone knew who wrote this and that I had no part in taking any of your comments/etc. etc. out of context.

LoL ... (I wonder how many people you've cussed out and they didn't hand you your ass). I get your point but unless so said person did something "directly" to me or dealing with me, I wouldn't take it personally. I like to buy the music, memorabilia and go to the concerts.

That article and its quotes are a case of what Malcolm once noted as "chickens coming home to roost."

And I ain't referring to Prince, neither!

An opportunity to be constructive has been ruined here, IMO.

interestingly, those of us who pointed out that people should chill, not say such bad things over what was obviously a mistake, we were called 'fams, and told that's not how it is here.

In all of the negativity that flowed from here people dissed my post on other more well known sites that have automatic charges that occur and will not give you a refund after you have requested this.I went as far as putting stop payment requests into the bank on ESPN because they keep charging me after I have requested 3 times in 3 years for them to stop. My bank told me that I was at fault for giving them my Credit Card info because websites are notorious for charging after people have requested for the services to stop.

The Lotus site was jacked but at least they are refunding the money.ESPN,Sporting News,NFLdraftblitz, nftdraftnotebook are still doing this without refunding dime one.

falloff The Daily Swarm? Here I was thinking we'd made the New York Times or something. ohgoon

I'm curious about something that y'all seem to be deliberately not talking about.wink

Since Lotusflow3r faded to black before Gavin contacted anyone over there, technically year 2 was abandoned without a word, before the eye of the shit storm hit, so if no one had said anything and just sat back waiting for year 2 of what they were told was a yearly membership to commence, I wonder if they would have kept the money and how long they would have kept y'all dangling waiting for something for BIG to happen? hmmm

EXACTLY!

that's what i'm saying.

the only reason he's giving the money back is because HE GOT CAUGHT.

you think he's giving the money back because he's a nice person? FUCK NO!

some people will steal what they can get away with. if you let them.

people are getting their money back.that's good.

my point is this type of thing should not have happened in the first place.i'm smart enough not to fall for the oke-doke.

I feel your pain but think about what you are saying.

To say that "he" was stealing is going out on a limb.

I do not believe that Prince was trying to purposly bilk people. If the situation was like they said then I believe it.

My main problem was and is the fact that it was one shot deal instead of a longer lasting site.

Also let me say this . I was a founding member and was NOT charged so maybe they corrected the problem after the efforts of people HERE who were really concerned about the Org family.

A shout out to you and all others involved in getting that problem addressed!

I agree, the double standard regarding respect makes me nuts. You can't call a member a name, but, boy, you can call Prince every name in the book, insult him to no end and make false accusations based on the lynch mob mindset and it's just peachy! disbelief

This is such bullshit. So you know the reason, did Prince tell you? I imagine Prince had no idea anything was happening until all hell broke loose. Do you really think a measly $77 from a few hundred(?) members would be worth the hassle for him?

That, and the Terms of Service said that customers will be billed automatically for the 2nd year. Now, all of a sudden, everyone's so shocked that they're being billed, when they were told they were being billed on day 1!!!

Obviously, a LOT of people forgot, and they got pissed when they were charged.

I don't see how this is stealing when people were told this was gonna happen.

People canceled their accounts in the manner prescribed by the website. Then they were charged again anyway. Then the site disappeared.

Well, I agree it was a big screw-up, but I don't think it was intentional nor malicious on his part.

Since they weren't planning on running it another year, they probably didn't pay attention to the emails (if anyone was even checking them nowadays...). It's hardly 'stealing', especially if Prince's team didn't even run the transactions themselves.

Quickly corrected, huh? I think 3 people got their money back so far.

It's making a mountain out of a molehill for some of you but to those who were in better financial position at the beginning of the club and who are in worse condition now, 77 bucks is a lot of money.

If Prince chooses to "punish" his fans because of a few vocal ones on the 'net, shame on him again. Shame on him the first time for not handling his business on this one.

And I do not regret for a damn second anything I have said about this fiasco.

Just because I don't think this is a big deal, doesn't mean I'm swimming in cash.

I'm on disability, so I need every penny I have.

I also made a choice a year ago. I made the choice to spend $77 dollars for a membership to the website knowing that I'd be charged for the 2nd year.

I wasn't happy with the content of the website, and was planning on canceling my membership when the time came. I didn't have to because of this situation that's going on now.

What I saying is this is a big deal to some people and no one has that right to tell them that it's not.

Whether or not we knew we would be automatically renewed is a point of contention. If I recall, there was no way to opt for automatic renewal. It was also stated that we could write to them and ask that we not be renewed and a ton of us also changed our credit card information. We were renewed anyway so yes, I am surprised and pissed off I was renewed.

Should I not be pissed off some vendor has held on to my personal info without my permission even when I changed it to something else?
