"Dream Factory Era" comparable to "Sign 'o' The Times era"?

Do you think that a possible "Dream Factory Era" would have been similar to the well known "Sign 'o' The Times era"?

Would it also have been Peach & Black?

But most important, How would it have been like in Live Concerts?
Concerts with zero guitar play like "Parade era"? or the same like SOTT concerts?

Instead of being defensive, and childish, try using the search box next time. Those albums, and that era, are almost always in discussion somewhere on here. You don't need to check it 24/7, Snippy McSnipperson, just do the work.

You're right. I'm sorry.

Just hate searching through the search box,
thought I'd prevented it, but didn't looked well enough.

Tried to look for that fun purple car picture (Rave era) 2 weeks ago.
but fail razz

Actually I thought Ernest was being a little unfair. In the 80’s every new Prince album was accompanied by a distinct look (suits and combed back hair for Parade, peach & black for Sign of the Times, polka dots and pastels for Lovesexy). I think it is interesting to speculate what would have been the look for Dream Factory. And if he had kept the Revolution on board - what direction would he have taken for his live performances? A Dream Factory tour - similar to Hit ‘n’ run or more like Sign o’ the Times? Valid questions, if you ask me, that I haven’t seen discussed (at least for a while wink )
The wooh is on the one!

Also, I don't know about anybody else, but the search function has NEVER worked for me on this site. Doesn't matter what I type in the result is always "Nothing found
Sorry, your search did not return any results (or would have returned way too many results). Try specifying different search terms..."

Every single time. Pretty frustrating.

That's odd. I hear folks say that, but I find most of that I need in there, especially if I'm needing to find an older thread to reference in some way. 90% of the time I can find what I am looking for.

the ORG search engine 99% of the time doesn't produce

If you type in the Google Custom Search above it, You usually get a lot of what your looking for but even that depends.

I've typed in specific headings of threads and still got nothing at times

Yeah the search function has never once produced a result for me. I've also typed in the exact name of a thread or album or song or whatever, and 0 results.

my question is this, and take no offense Ernest , why do people give a flying fuck if it is reposted again? Maybe this time another person will answer with a different perspective . . . some people are wayyy too anal and need to chill. Where does it say every post has to be 100% original anyway?

OMG I'd actually never considered what "looks" Prince would have had with "Dream Factory" or "Camille". But my guess is that the look for SOTT is a combination of all the looks he had planned if DF or Camille had been released.
Interesting.

You have to use the Google Custom Search at the top of the page in the right corner. There you will find anything you like.

The "search forums" engine does not work.

I agree, I think there might have been more to the bands costumes
The outfit Prince wore for Housequake was what Sheila E. was already wearing (during the end of the Parade tour) most of what she wore 4 SOTT was what she was wearing at the beginning of the promo 4 her 3rd album, during the 1986 period

Actually very interesting take on this transitional period. Of course we will probably never know which musicians would've toured, what the costumes and stage set would have looked like....would be fascinating to one day hear about P' intentions had Dream factory been released/ toured

wink

& it's a matter if someone knows how to use it. I've been a member of p.org over 10yrs now and I rarely use it (and I do not know how to (fully) use it).

Wasn't Eric's cloak part of the Madhouse look? Cat's and Sheila's ensemble was the female version of Prince's Parade/ "Kiss" look. Wally's plain street clothes...I'm guessing part of the more urban feel of "Camille".

lol Ok enough speculating.

I hope that these questions ones will be asked to Prince in an interview or something.

I really wonder if "The Peach & Black" was invented short before the release of SOTT or that the idea existed with the Dream Factory sessions.

Good question. Ime an,U Got The Look,'color me peach and black' lyric: is that reference the basis of the future use of these colors during touring with SOTT or a 'leftover' idea fro mbefore this time.....

According to Princevault.com, 'U Got The Look' was recorded on the 21th december of 1986, at that time, The Revolution was allready abandonend.

I assume in that case that 'The Peach & Black' thing was invented by the end of 1986. (maybe when he was in2 the Camille or Crystal Ball project?)

I think the hippie denim look he used for The Cross (in the SOTT movie) would have suited the Dream Factory project. The Cross was featured on at least some of the DF configurations, wasn't it?

I think it was. The hippie denim look would have been perfect for the Dream Factory project in my opinion.

SOTT was such a critical success most probably because it was perceived as Prince getting "mature" in his lyrics. TDF featured much more adolescent/fresh/naive songs in the spirit of Prince's previous albums, so no matter how good the music was, i think it might not have been acclaimed as SOTT was & still is.

We will never know anyway...
