I'm in love with "Cause & Effect" now. The Lotusflow3r version sounds a lot better & clearer. Its a master piece.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Aye, 28 hour jam then a few more unnecessary overdubs with the studio door locked to outside influence, I'm sure. I think it would be fucking ace as purely an instrumental, as the rockabilly cartoon affected chorus slightly marrs the whole thing for me. I wasn't expecting Radiohead, like a lot of folk seem to be. if I want to hear Nude or Talk Show Host, I'll put on Nude or Talk Show Host. Musically - both technically and emotionally - Cause & Effect is quite an achievement and a sound indicator that he's making odd, unique, complex, quirky, cheeky, fearless, uncategorisable curly wurly music with tongue firmly planted in cheek again - exactly what I listen to Prince for. Bring on the album, wee man. [Edited 2/28/10 14:18pm]

Hmmmm interesting, it says "Not bad 4 28 hour jam sessions." [Edited 2/28/10 14:44pm] Correction: Orger "Efan" got it right. It actually states "Not bad 4 two 8 hour sessions" [Edited 2/28/10 15:11pm]

O.K. I've played it loads and now the guitar riff is stuck in my head, love it or hate it it's damn catchy!. Sure this has been discussed but does he say he'd change his next of kin' ! - if so then that's a hell of a statement to make., unless it's a ref to us as 'Fams'?.

I was wondering about that line too, but a "Next of Kin" - is a person (or persons) who are most closely related to a given person I know there's a few in my family, I wish I could change. Anyway, for me, the best parts of the track are the guitar solos. Awesome. [Edited 2/28/10 14:42pm]

time for some perspective - it was a free track so harm done!, was it a dissapointment? - well to those who really know his music [i.e old schoolers like me! then yes - it all can't be good!, now here's the key - do we still have faith in him to deliver a truly classic CD? - for many the jury is out and it's a puzzle i.e. why can't one of the most overly blessed musicians in history just deliver 1 killer CD. His mojo surely just can't have evaporated overnight?.Personally I still live in hope but believe strongly that he needs time off or get a strong circle of sensible musicains around him to voice HONEST opionions.
If P reads this he must know that the harshest of critics are still on sites like this because deep down we want to keep believeing in his talent and still hope that he prove himself to be a leader on record as he is live.

[Edited 2/28/10 14:22pm] Aha, thank you! So a certain someone is kind enough to tell us that we shouldn't be so harsh since it was just created during a long jam session. Well, Prince I'd love to hear what it sounded like before ProTools. The song would sound a lot better with a different chorus. It's catchy, but too childish to fit the rest of the tune. But hey, if you had 28 hours of fun and felt like sharing it with us then why not... [Edited 2/28/10 14:40pm]

You all have to acknowledge the fact that it is very unlikely that Prince is gonna release anything else as innovative or interesting as pre-1988 (IMO) despite the odd spurts of the like of TGE or TRC. There is a reason why youth generates interesting music. It is not unusual amongst many artists and it is difficult for those who have been around a while to maintain inspiration and innovation, and fans cling on in desperate hope but remain forever disappointed.
As John Lennon said of the end of the Beatles; "It's just natural, it's not a great disaster. People keep talking about it like it's The End of The Earth. It's only a rock group that split up, it's nothing important. You know, you have all the old records there if you want to reminisce." The end of Prince's creativity? Then lets just all reminisce..... "Lisa, i'm gonna give u the brush, and u're gonna paint the side of the train..."

Yes, you are right Efan, it does say two 8 hour sessions. So Efan you guessed it right. (I didn't read it in Princebonics the first time ) Thanks for correcting that. I did wonder about 28 hours of jamming, and how that would have been grueling. [Edited 2/28/10 15:16pm]

Backwards, forwards or any wacky written form of a juvenile stab at mystery, Yeah, it is. That's horrendous for 1, 2 or 3 eight hour jam sessions. And rather polished for a jam session as well. Sounds like one hour of actual composition and performance and the other 15 went into Pro Tools post production. No hard feelings.
