Can anyone tell me anything about this project? I heard a boot of it but I don't have any frame of reference for what it is, why it was recorded, etc.

Planned for James L Brooks' musical film project which was subsequently aborted

It's a bootleg. There was no "EP" planned.

The tracks themselves are a bunch of demos for the "I'll Do Anything" movie,
and would've appeared (in their finished cast recording form) on the
soundtrack album. However, the musical numbers were dropped before release
and it was released as a regular movie rather than a musical. All the
songs were shelved (though a few wound up on The Vault...Old Friends 4 Sale
album).
