I was a this show: March 7, 1985, Pam Am Center Las Cruces, NM. I was thirteen and my Prince obsession started on that wonderful day. I recalled this show to Wendy Melvoin during one of the W&L gigs at the Largo last year. She grabbed my hands and said: "Oh my god. Yes. I forgot about that show. Lisa! Hey Lisa? Do you remember the two shows in New Mexico?" It was the coolest weirdest experience. Although I was a veteran of live music shows (my dad was/is a pot head and the perpetual teenager) and had seen a bunch of metal and punk and new wave shows with my dad, but man, oh, man. Prince baptized me with the funk that night. Since that day the bar was raised and all music had to be as funky, or original etc, etc. After that day I can easily recall memories from my past because I can remember what I was doing in the subsequent years due the annual Prince releases.

Oh and I still have my ticket stub from that night. With the legend: "Wear Something Purple," under the name of the venue.
