Which artist made the best "Prince-esque" track?

Till the end of time-Justin Timberlake

Slow Dance- Keri Hilson

Promise- Ciara

Do It To Me- Usher

These 4 were the most obvious Prince influenced songs....I think Usher and his choppy "Beautiful Ones" chords was the most dead on Prince imitation...he even sang in falsetto. lol

No.

This would be more of a Pop Life ripoff. (seeing how it was actually sampled for the song.)

and aside from the musical backdrop i wouldnt really call either of these tracks "prince-esque"

I always thought this would be great song for Prince to cover, because it sounds like Prince ballad.

Yeah, that's the winner - brilliant song (with true emotion! that's the reason to make music).

As good as Prince is, he couldn't beat that.

That track is perfection.

All the videos in the OP are quite horrific, and not Prince-like in the slightest.

Try something from the Bar-Kay's 'Bangin' The Walls' album if you want some sound-a-like stuff that is still great on it's own.

My vote goes for the Jeff Buckley track. It's been one of my favorites for years. It always reminded me of a mix of Robert Plant and Prince. It's obvious that Plant was one of Buckley's influences in his vocals on many of his tracks. I also like his track "Forget Her".

Wow, thanks for that Buckley track. I wouldn't have thought to hear such a song from him. Not a rip off but similar to Prince anyway.

My vote for best and most Prince-esque track goes to Laurnea - Infatuation. The beat, the sound, the vocals (harmonies as well as solo), screaming wah guitar, synths and content matter. It hits all things Princey.

Don't know if it would be considered the best, but does anyone remember a group called Natural Selection? They were a one hit wonder, late 80s or early 90s...can't for the life of me remember the name of the song but it was pretty dead on.

I dug it!
blunt music She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies.... music blunt
