Out of all of them The Dream and Pharell win my vote. I really dig that Pharell song...especially near the end, the guitar solo reminded me of Jesse Johnson with a touch of Prince...that song for the most part picked up on the essence of the early Minneapolis sound, u can tell Pharell studied the music.

Don't know if it would be considered the best, but does anyone remember a group called Natural Selection? They were a one hit wonder, late 80s or early 90s...can't for the life of me remember the name of the song but it was pretty dead on.

I dug it!

Remenber them, didn't they had something to do with Ingrid Chavez ???

"Oh Sheila" or "Debra" by Beck.

And there is a Jeff Buckley song that reminds me of Prince - "What Would You Say". It doesn't sound like Prince really, but it makes me think Buckley was influenced by P.

Yeah, I believe Andre did 'Still A Thrill'. I've always suspected that Prince had something to do with it also.

Prince had nothing to do with it. Andre produced Jody, they were married.

Alot of people thought this was Prince when this came out in 1991. It's got Prince's vibe ALL OVER it!

It's very reminiscent of Good Love, and you can tell that other Prince verbal chemistry is used.

Thanks for posting some of these. I like that cut from Private called We've Got Some Breaking Up to do. And the other Ebonee cut that's a pure Head rip off.

But nobody does Prince like Prince when he was ON!

My fave Prince imitation group... I have to admit though... was Ready for the World.

They were BANGIN!!!!!
The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Ebonee Webb sounds more like Prince than anyone else. Hell, they sound more like Prince than Prince himself. lol

I'm glad you exposed Ebonee Webb to the "Prince: Music and More" section because most of them ain't hip to stuff like that. Here's another one from their next album that is very Prince-like.....

And don't forget about Bobby Nunn....

I give this cat NO credit whatsoever!

All he did was steal AUTOmatic, and change the words, and add some Prince'esque screams! WTF!!

I can't respect this guy at all.

He should just change the lyrics to... "I'M VOO DOO RICK JAMES, BITCH"

Check out the Bennie songs from 1989.

Let's Get Married
Ho Cakes
Liberation.

If only he'd have released an album. These 3 tracks are 3 of the funkiest Prince sounding songs I've ever heard, sound just like Prince circa 1987.

Jesse Johnson's 100 Watts of Funky is pretty Prince-ish, too - and pretty great.
