Wow. Just shows that some legends are not flattered by imitation. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

On the JB, MJ, and Prince video it seemed that, when MJ was whispering to JB that Prince was in the house, JB didn't even seem to know who Prince was!

Finally, the Truth by way of 3rd hand information on a random blog. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

James and Little Richard have been saying that for ages about people, yet all the people did was constantly pay homage to them, and take what they did and made it even better for a new generation. Someone will do the same w/ Prince's music in another 40 years.

It doesn't make sense what JB was sayin', and i noticed this with that youtube vid of JB/MJ/Prince onstage together - JB seems to be really diggin' MJ (whom himself is a self confessed imitator of JB), but when Prince comes on stage JB seems to lose interest.
So my question is: What's the difference between MJ and P, that JB seems so in love with Michael but disses Prince? My theory is that MJ was part to the establishment, even before Thriller he WAS the industry incarnate (What he did with the Jacksons, plus he was at Motown), he basically had a lot of backing, and JB liked to aligned himself with the bigwigs of the business - but Prince was a young buck (similar age the MJ, but hadn't had the 'grooming' since year one!), he was a maverick, an outsider who 'lucked' out in any peoples eyes - he didn't play the usual game of 'props n pounds'. so like Rick James, JB felt threatend by this 'new breed' of uber-star, who had come to knock them off there disco perches. I'm rambling now, but i think i made my point - JB was either jealous or plain ignorant of P's talent ???? ..... .....

I hope at last some one combines the moves of P, JB, and MJ.
Then we will have a PB and J with M and extra J. or MJ BBQ sauce if done incorrectly. [Edited 1/7/10 16:41pm] We are all so full of here

Not long before JB passed I remember one of his close friends, stating the JB wanted Prince and MJ to carry on the music, so what he said in the 80s about Prince, does not hold any weight compared to something more positive he said about Prince just before he passed. I wish I could find that article. [Edited 1/7/10 18:43pm]

Marvin Gaye said something similar about Prince.
Something about "I was the 1st Prince" or whatever. It seems that Prince was a threat to a lot of these guys. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Answer: Regarding stage performances at that time, Michael was doing the "Michael Jackson," while Prince was doing the "James Brown/Little Richard/Jimi Hendrix." And James maybe enjoyed Mike as a little boy imitating him, but not grown Prince I guess. Plus, Mike just danced like him sometimes. Prince danced, sang, yelled, had a horn section, and lead his band like James Brown. (I'm sorry luv4u. Don't close the thread. ) Also, why would James Brown be "jealous?" There goes that overused word again, lol. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Being a muscician of James' caliber, he had to recognize what Prince was doing was pretty special. Just check out Miles Davis' autobiography when he talks about Michael Jackson and Prince.

Yeah, I agree with that. James probably acknowledged that Prince was composing great original music. But I guess he just didn't like watching Prince emulate him while performing. James was an alpha male- and illiterate in some area's of his life, he was also a product of the deep south circa 1940's and 50's. He certainly didnt take a liking to this light skinned, pretty cat not only aping him live but being applauded as an innovator. The innovator/originator tag was very important to cats like JB, Little Richard and later Rick James, Prince threatened that more than any modern artist at that time. Mike was a showman and rooted in tradition because he came up with motown,James probably took a liking to old Joe as well, same kind of hard old school cats. Plus Mike came off as non threatening, where prince although androgynous gave off a controlling vibe- you knew he wanted to fuck your girl and would if you didnt check him lol.All James was doing was regulating, alpha males do it constantly because control is something they cant imagine giving up-saying Prince was a comer was probably a scary thing at a time when JB was dealing with becoming passe in music and aging as a man-remember there was no viagra then lol-being threatened by young lions is perfectly natural and alpha males turn it into a show.Look at prince! women stay the same age, constantly commenting on how he hasnt changed, preaching about real music to feel he's still got it- it's life.

Her music is bland, the only thing she does is copying others etc. The reason why she is so popular is that she knows how to sell out herself. You know, those brand-name headphones in all of her videos, "scandals" etc., it's all just business. She does all the things that Madonna did. Just my opinion, we have to agree to disagree about her.
