My dear Zaza, Lady CaCa is from your generation! You should like her, only old bags like me are allowed to despise Lady Caca and her associates.

lol I don't like current music, I'm more into music of 70's, 80's and early 90's. Those were the times when music was MUSIC.

You poor boy! I'm glad I had my college years in the 80's. Those were outrageous times. Sure there was a lot of shit, but even that shit was more interesting than that prefab corporate horsedough produced by evil minds like Simon Cowell. Thank God we had no Simon Cowell and other failures of Western -reality tv-celebrity-obessed popular culture.
But we did have Stock Aitken and Waterman; as you like the Simon Cowells of their time.

Never heard of them (and I'm glad lol). My current obsession is Parliament, so you can see my attitude towards current music smile I wish I was born in 70's lol

Seriously? You honestly believe there is any less talent or good music in this decade (last decade) than the previous ones? Where the fuck were you during the bad 80s or the dire 90s? And as for 70s!? Glam rock enthusiast no doubt. Or were you more a Showaddywaddy fan? wink

I know that back in the day there were a lot of crappy music, but somehow the most of songs has soul and "something". Todays music sounds (mostly) like it has no soul, no live instruments etc. The mainstream music is just horrible. Try to compare "That's The Way Of The World" by EW&F with any current "hit" and you'll see what I mean nod

yall are digging way too deep into this than it is.

mike and james had HISTORY.

james known mike since he was at least 9 years old.

they opened for him at apollo and other theaters and joe(mikes dad) originally wanted james to take the jackson 5 under his wings.

what you saw on that stage was a culmination (sp?) of everything from 9 years old to the 24/25 year old thriller top success that mike came to be THAT NIGHT. james saw the "boy done done good!"

its basically family right there.

prince was "new"...and a lil shy and stand off-ish so..yeah...

simple and all there is to it.

She is better than Madge though and on many levels.

1. She can actually sing!
2. She writes her own music/lyrics.
3. She can actually be called a musician.

Lyrics: "po po po po po", "pa pa, pa pa razzi" and "ga ga ooh la la la"? How talented..

But popular music has shifted dramatically. Take a look at each genre and you'll find magic in each. There are some wonderful songs and some beautiful music about today. It's not the music that has stagnated but people's curiosity.

...and James Brown played what instrument?

Don't you love all those amazing performances where James was rippin amazing guitar solos! cool or man how can anyone forget when he played the piano and sang such beautiful ballads.

Oh yeah he kept repeating the same dance moves he did since the 1960's and just toured the same stage show for 50 years - the only difference was he was slowlying down with age and needed dancers around him.

Outside of Rocky 4 and doing "living in america" did he even have a new song anyone heard of past 1970?

lol

pum pum is the jamaican name for pu**y
there was a reason why prince chose that
name for that song. i remember some1 in
the rave dvd holding up a sign saying 'poom
poom.' i thought that was rather bold in a time
of prince's 'the christ'

Poor guy... lol

Only stupid Prince fans could diss James Brown. What Prince would have been without James Brown... LOL

Just because Prince plays instruments doesn't make him better, Prince ain't funky like JB, Prince ain't original like JB, Prince didn't make as many R&B hits as JB, Prince didn't impact black music like JB, and Prince can't perform like JB.
James Brown in his 50's was a much better performer than Prince is nowdays...And I just stop there.

JB left behind him a MUCH bigger heritage. And made the biggest impact on black people's mind. JB embodied black music, he wasn't just a black artist HE WAS black music. Something Prince never achieved.

And just like most black people, I'll choose James Brown over Prince anytime anyday. No question.

There was black music before James Brown, and black music after James brown. How many people can say that of Prince. Prince is just barely comparable to the levels of Sly at best in terms of influence. And even Sly was an originator, not Prince.

But you still are a little sly troll...U knew the response you would get on a Prince site...bravo...

He wasn't shitty towards Prince...He was just being the alpha male that he is...In fact, it's safe to say that JB thought much differently about him after the early, early '80s....
