Yes, back in the 80's right before he and Mayte' were married. I was seriously wondering about his sanity.

The Oprah interview. When he said he looked at 16 year old Mayte and said she was his future wife, it creeped me out so much that I did not listen to his music for about 2 years.

My mind has always loved Prince's music and through my life good and bad I have listened to the music.

When Prince was married or I was I respected that.
I sacrificed going to Prince concerts because of my kids at home...I would still fantasize about Prince and I being friends and holding hands, but I guarded my mind and my dreams.

Prince being unmarried now made it easy for me to give up all other men in 2005 after his seperation from Manuella. I'll always love Prince. I'm just waiting for him to come around..2 see how perfect opposites we are in some ways and how much we have in common in others.

If an angel would have come down from Heaven when I was 17 and said, "Some day Ur Prince will come." I'd probably be a 43 year old virgin waiting on a "Sharp Dressed Man." cool

Yes..I started a very similar thread a while back.
Rainbow children was my "I give up" point.
The almighty return of "Prince"! No more Symbol! The big sticker on the Album cover.."the CONTRAVERSIAL new album by Prince!" I thought..YES, PRINCE IS BACK!!!
Then I put it in my cd player...

Pardon him for not asking for ID before making that thought! lol lol lol
So you waited for 2 whole years (that is until she became officially an adult) to listen to his music again? razz

I left Prince after Batman and returned about 3 months ago, for reasons that have nothing to do with Prince though. I have the rest of my life to regret about it...

Since 1996 I've been a fan and I keep to the point of view that it's just music. Yes, his music is a significant part of my life and I listen to his music 98% of the time when I'm listening to music but that's it: it's just music. Why would you have to stop listening to it if you take that point of view?

I did, but it was not intentional. From early 2000 until early 2002 I had pretty much stopped listening to him. It was an odd time in my life, and I sort of abandoned the things that were important to me up to that time. In March of 2002, theorgangrinder7 called me up and asked if I wanted to go to a concert in Cleveland. I went basically to hang out with him rather than see Prince. However, the concert was so damn good that I returned to Prince. I actually became a much bigger fan that I had been in the past.

Yes, I left after Diamonds and Pearls. My life changed, I went to work on another continent and my whole taste in music changed. I moved away from commercial stuff and listening to underground music mostly. I came back in time for Lotusflower but caught up with 23 cds which I bought from a collector who was at the time moving away from Prince. So he said goodbye and I said Hello... hello, hello cool

never completely, but the 1997 Collective and Crystal Ball fiascos, respectively, kind of killed my enthusiasm til about 2002. fortunately he happened to be creating a lot of bullshit and trying to pass it of as music in those years, so I didn't really feel like I was missing much.
