Darling Nikki Appreciation

The guitar work throughout and especially at the end of this tune is so awesome -- unbelieveable.

headbang

Anyone agree?

It's a great song, especially because of the spicy lyrics.

One of those songs that used to get a lot of love, hardly mentioned these days. Yeah it's still a pretty solid 9/10 for me.

The scream in this like nyse said just blows my mind. I actually get CHILLZ from when he screams. I've heard "alternate" versions of this song too. It would have been great if WB would have released this album in it's ORIGINAL format.
biggrin

It changed music and the way music could be bought. For better or worse.

I love the drums on this track. The mix of programming and a live kit were done so well here. The guitar is off the hook. It's chaotic beauty as only Prince could do in a studio by himself. The song also singlehandedly boosted sales of gangsta rap records as a result of the PMRC's insistence on Parental Warning Labels. Tipper's little plan backfired on her conservative, uptight ass.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I loved how this was one of his solo joints. It always made e thik of what a whole album of just him dong it all solo would have lead to as WDC, Nikki, and The Beautiful Ones were all him.

I love this song!
I did feel bad for any girl named Nicole or Nikki after it came out.
They didn't ask for that to happen to them.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

This was the first song I ever listened to by Prince (I was 11). I nicked my dad's cassette version it and took it to school so all my mates could listen to the word 'masturbate' and giggle a la Beavis and Butthead!!

After we got bored with that we decided to give the rest of the album a go. The rest is history. I was hooked.

My name is Nicci and it never caused me no problems - apart from people always asking if it was me in the song - as if !!! well there was that one time that small guy in the hotel lobby was looking at me funny as I was reading a mans mag but ..... only kidding it weren't me.

I love the song and honoured to be featured in it like all the other Nicci's friends always sing it to me when they see me hence my use of Littlenicci here.

I'm loud and I'm Proud
