interesting the very beginning and end is cut off. is this becuz he ran over the alotted time and they cut a bit off either end? they should have cut the going off stage/crowd cheering bit instead.

hopefully a full version of the performance will one day surface!

.....

ps. i'm first on page 10!!! yipeeeee!

LOL at you acting like Prince performed his entire tv performance sitting on a stool.... biggrin

WOW!
So I finally got to see this and its amazing! Once again! I've been saying that since day 1 of seeing him perform live! Just brilliant! A couple comments...

Ok I lost count but early on in the thread I didnt see it was a full version of 1999 - wow! and he retired this one just to bring it back badder and funkier than ever. i know why too...its a clean song and hes into that now! wink

Back up dancers - they are the new Diamond & Pearl for sure...nicely done they blend in the background better than the twinz ever did

No More Candy 4 U Live Is SICK! Damn I've heard about it for months but to finally see it...damnnnn eek

Controversy - geez he kicked it in too high gear for this one and killed it but the chair...that sucks!!!

The Hip - I gotta say it...it makes me somewhat depressed that Prince can no longer even roam the stage which brings even more power to his perfomances...yes the splits is a long goner but no longer playing stage left and right...a pity

Overall A+

Wow, a real lot of positive remarks here. I'll have to be the one to bring the other side of the coin.

This was really hard on the eyes. Seeing him on that stool, subdued funky, indeed. This to me is a real bad sign, his music rocks and all, but Prince is about the complete image. I'll always back him, but it's a painful thought seeing Prince in a few years sitting in a big chair on stage like BBking. Okay for an acoustic set or some ballads, but not your dance tunes. Damn, made me real sad.

Also, his 'oeh oeh wee' was breaking up and he noticed it as well. Damn near broke my heart.

Some people say he was smiling, I noticed him being real shy: when the host entered the stage, looking down and not feeling comfortable at all.

Not a nice viewing...

-----
Some of you guys are some negative folks. Dude is 51 and he is going to get older as the years go by if you expect him to jump off of a speaker at his age you need to get a grip. The performance was kick-ass and I still say P has more energy then some of his musical peers who really don't perform at all live anymore or just stand in one place. It might be time for some of you to get off the purple boat once and for all.

Go see Cyndi Lauper, she still puts the energy of a 30 year old on stage. I'm just sayin'. That's not to knock Prince btw, just a retort to your comment that assumes a lot.

This isn't some obscure thing, he did this in THOUSANDS of performances. For YEARS.

Yet somehow these "fans" managed to avoid all of those instances.

Oh, BTW: when I heard him say "Vegas" for the first time, I guessed what it meant by APPLYING LOGIC: Prince calls out "Vegas", and much like "on the one" or "kickdrum" or "confusion", it's a musical cue. Which is then confirmed by his band applying said cue.

Think. It ain't ilegal yet.

Wanna know why this is crap? Because he's IMITATING previous performances.

And his band is shit. ZERO personality.

Those two things are linked, BTW.

For crying out loud, some people are new to the Prince world, give them a break

I knew what "Vegas" meant when I heard it for the first time. Ditto "confusion". Ditto "on the one". Ditto "kickdrum". It's not like Prince invented calling out musical cues. It's not like these are some obscure references.

Let's see: Prince yells "Vegas", and then his band starts playing some big cheesy musical bit. Yeah, there's absolutely no way to figure that one out. I must be a genius.

I don't see how he's imitating Dance 4 Me and No More Candy, since they haven't been played on tv before, afaik.

No More Candy sounded great too.

This band is pretty tight, but Ive always liked Cora. And the more I hear Josh the more I realize that he's pretty talented in his own right (although not as talented as his woman).

Liv looked a little better this time. Last time I saw her on TV she looked kinda scary. The camera guy liked Elisa.

And the one chick in back of Prince with the long straight brown hair and cut up pants was hot. I wonder if P & Bria took them all back to their hotel with them?

For a reason, I thought she was beautiful, gorgeous eyes.

I agree with some of the previous posts that the band maybe not is the most funky or swinging band, but they sure delivered and by the end of the day that's what counts! No more candy he sings - well this is pretty sweet already! Thanks!

That's a clever analysis. Actually I just thought the chair was for the interview part. He didn't know how long it would be and he feels more comfortable sitting when answering questions. But I prefer the mentioned theory.

I am not telling you what to do or what to think but in my opinion your post came off as a little negative as the overall performance was top notch and I do not think there is anything wrong with P getting old as long as he does it gracefuly which I think so far is doing.

As far as standing in one place trust me P standing is more exciting and not nearly as prolonged as a lot of his peers.

Point taken. It's just that when I heard him say Vegas for the very first time it was clear what it was and what it meant. I'm surprised this little thing flies over anybodies head. There are still people in this thread after reading the posts that think 'Vegas' means 'stop on the one'. Baffling, like they're viewing something completely different from what I'm seeing. I'm not about making them feel bad, I'm expressing my disbelief.

When a performer says Vegas to me he is letting fans know God willing his playing Vegas. Because why would he yell out that? I like Prince? He's always doing his business a head of time. And we all will get old one day. Hope will still rock like Prince.

-----
Well when Prince says Vegas. He means give me a big Vegas ending it is a cue to his band. Now that everyone has been informed you can all relax after all P has only been saying this for the past decade or so !!!!

I think he's referring to the lot of people who do nothing more than offend. I specifically think he's pigeonholing rappers, but I find lots of people do this. A rapper will rhyme about dealing, pimping, and other forms of blatant disrespect and then when they win an award, they thank jesus for the opportunity.
