Umm there is a Associated Artist Forum as well
Some need to catch up on certain threads people make. The one thread about your favorite artist here loves to sue people who are not members of the org(the dancing baby incident) to people who are members as well as his former members of his own band/camp(which may or may not include family and/or close friends). Read the Associated Artist forum as well threads have been known to pop up there too about him stopping publication on things.He makes the decision of who can sing/play or do covers of his songs and when he dont approve of it he whines about it and makes a big deal of it by how...one way is sueing them and through lawyers. Believe me when I say this (I speak for myself ONLY), Prince will get treated the way he treats others aka karma.Over the past few years I am slowly starting to loose respect for him, as many prolly are. Many that are just now "getting into him" wasnt there or born to see this through the years. And dont understand why this is happening and then we are called "haters" as a few are putting it.So what I like other artists(this dont just include associated artists from this site alone) that can and will treat their fans with respect and treat them the way they want to be treated. If you want to live in a fantasy world of Prince "can do no wrong" go for it that is your perogative but dont hate on the haters for them hating/bashing/venting steam especially if they have their own reasons behind the way they feel. It's a privately owned fan community and Ben, (the site owner) explained the difference during the PFU drama. It would be nice if everyone knew how to express an opinion without being unkind, whether it's toward Prince or anyone else, but you'll find unkind people anywhere you go. As for Prince, I'm sure he realized long ago that fame has a down side just like any other choice in life and by now I'm sure he has developed a way of coping with it. "Speaking your mind" can be and shoukld be constructive to further your point or to incite a discussion. "Being really mean" falls under posting on every thread to say "it sucks", "we covered this before", "you're a post whore", "use google" and there's a lot of that going around on here. At the end of the day, he gives us music and in return we make him rich. He gives us pointless, premium websites, we make him rich. He gives us silly poems and a book of photos, we make him rich.
We are his cash cow. Dont feel sorry for the guy, he doesnt feel sorry for you. He just wants your dosh. Its just like politics. Politicians give you what you want and you give them your vote. If they stop giving you what you want then you give your vote to someone else. I bet you dont cry when the politicians get shit from their "supporters". Lets just be honest here - the music aint that great and the website sucks. He is getting rich by providing a sub standard product - bitch away to the man I say! |

I was a major fan in the 80's, dropped of a little in the 90's, but i'm still an admirer of some of his later work too, To this day, he is still gets a purchase and a listen from me, i attend his gigs if he's near enough and i can afford it.
I think i'm entitled to say what i want if i think Planet Earth is a lacklustre album. Mainly though, from my lack of comments in this forum these last three years, well, that says a whole lot more. |
