My ONe NiTe In MonTe CaRlo I just came back from Monte Carlo...Where I attended the most perfect concert I have ever experienced.
Prince and the band were fabulous. Extraordinaire. He sang like an angel. The Opera was the perfect jewel case for such a precious inspiration. The sound was limpid, clear like a diamond. Each note was perfectly echoed by the room, creating the most delicate yet powerfull net of vibrations. Magical is the word. Words cannot express what impact such an atmosphere has on your soul and mind. So inspiring and so wild.Poetry could, but at this time of the night, I prefer not to try. Let alone the fact that I have nothing in common with any of the poets that would have the talent to find the words that would sound like Prince music. The set list has already been described... you all know about it. The second show ended with 30 people dancing around P., on stage. Then, somebody turned the lights up. The sound couldn't be heard anymore, but the vibes were still there Some VIPS were there: Elton John was sitting just next to me, with his husband, Prince Albert was dancing like crazy in his private balcony. probably other people, but I don't know much about that kind of stuff...didn't bother. There was no aftershow, but P. showed up with Renato at the Jimmy'z, the supposed "place-to-be" around Monaco...actually more of a show off and tacky venue, full of russian babes wearing heels so high that even P. couldn't handle it, not to mention the fact that the dj was doing a very good job at playing all the most boring and commercial tunes that have been inflicted upon us during this last 20 years. anyway, I went there at 2h30 cause they told me that P. played there the night before. So there I was, .... waiting. At some point, the dj suddenly played "off the Wall", and "dance 4 me"... I jumped on the dancefloor, too happy to hear some groovy music. I was so excited about dancing, that I didn't even notice that P. had finally arrived, and was dancing a few steps away. Believe me, I don't drink alcohol, and don't do drugs. He is so tiny... like air, so delicate.... Is he desintegrating? I say that, and I am myself 1.62 and petite... so I wonder what a normal guy might feel next to him!!! Anyway, I didn't notice him (can u imagine that, not noticing P. next to U?) When the 2 good tracks ended and the crappy music started again, I went to my friends and told them I was leaving cause I couldn't stand the place anymore. That's when they told me that P. had arrived, and was dancing next to me So I walk towards his table, wawered and smiled at him. He wawered and smiled back, in a very nice manner. Believe it or not, he sounded shy...So funny, it was like saying hi to a friend, a VERY SEXY friend . Short after that, P. got sick of the music too. He walked to the dj's cabine and asked him to play some funky stuff. That's how, thanks to P., I could dance again, and so was he!I was dancing next to him., couldn't believe it. He was with a female friend, kept it quiet and cool, mingling with the rest of the people (well, the 4 cats who endured the dj's performance up to that point). 2 bodygards were watching, but nothing to worry about. I was more molested by drunken guys than P. by a crazy weirdo. Good things don't last. Dj went back to his bad habits... and everybody sat down. As P. was passing by my friend, she asked him if he could do something about the music. He took her gently by the hand and went with her to ask a change of sound again... They should have that guy. He had no clue. Thank to him, the music got better, but it was late, and soon after P. disappeared... like he arrived...discretly. I must say that I personnaly got sick of M.C. after one day. My head was spinning, too many yellow ferrari driving around and around and around, yachts sailing up&down... What a circus. But the show has been a wonderfull experience, indeed. I know it was a privilege to attend such an event. Unique. Just wanted to share... Sorry for my broken english... difficult at this time of the night, with only 3 hours of sleep [Edited 8/14/09 19:03pm] [Edited 8/14/09 19:10pm] [Edited 8/18/09 17:53pm] [Edited 8/18/09 17:53pm]

I rmeember after a gig in Atlanta, Prince went to a club and was trying to dance a little, but everyone just surrounded him in a big circle and he just kind of moved to the music but didn't really dance...I think he was with Mayte that time.

Thank you very much for the report. I was waiting for a more detailed report that didn't involve just the setlists. You're so lucky to have encountered Prince personally. I see Elton John is becoming quite the Prince fan. What did this woman look like that he was dancing with. I'm ssuming it wasn't Bria. Prince really gets around with the ladies. Prince believes he is a musical prophet that has been chosen by Jehova to guide his fans to the "truth".

During the evening, I also could congratulate Renato and have a chat with him at the bar. He has a warm personality and sounds very gentle, interested in what you say.Amongst other things, we shared our opinion about MOnaco. He confessed that he didn't enjoy the place so much... I must say that I personnaly got sick of it after one day. My head was spinning, too many yellow ferrari driving around and around and around, yachts sailing up&down... What a circus. Renato also me that they had some technical problems during the first show, but that the second show had been a wonderfull experience. It was indeed. Beautiful experience indeed... your sharing put me there with you! As I sit here listening to Strawberry Shortcake, I can only imagine what it must have been like to share the dance floor with Prince...

Awesome experience!
I've always wondered what Prince would be like on a dance floor when he's just chillin'. Does he just kind of stand around and groove to the music or does he really dance dance, like sliding feet, turns, etc.? Enquiring minds and all that... Also, give us the scoop on what the new girlie looks like and were they canoodling? Guess Bria stayed home, eh?

I've added this to the Wiki: http://prince.org/wiki/Op...#Post-show Feel free to add more details there, but keep it objective and to the point Stella06 said: anyway, I went there at 2h30 cause they told me that P. played there the night before.
Did he do so? . [Edited 8/15/09 3:01am] © Bart Van Hemelen

Hi there ! My name is Enrico i'm from Italy. I came alone with my motorbyke from Rome to Monte Carlo just to see Prince's shows. I saw two shows both. I was one of 30 lucky dancer on stage at the end of second great show!!! What can i say more? I have not more words to describe great happyness to be there. Salle Garnier is wonderfull, perfect place for high level Prince show. For a little misunderstanding my tickets reservation was lost. But Miss Vanessa gave me other tickets and my dream come true. Great Show Great Prince Great Guitar Great Monaco Thanks GOD!!! Enrico - Italy

The woman who was with him was involved was a friend of a VIP (have no idea who it was) and spent the 2 concert in the backstage. The VIP seemed to be as very good friend of Elton John, cause he came up to him to say hi. The woman was with him, and he introduced her to Sir John saying "This is blablabla.. the sweetest person I know", or something along that line. She looked like a "normal" person , medium built, long hair, straight, brown, late twenties... with VERY high heels. Not really the P. typical kind of girl...But is he really that fussy? They were just having a drink, chatting and laughing, no outrageaous flirting. I guess he was just enjoying her company, grooving quietly from time to time on the dancefloor. NO choreography or crazy steps... He had been playing for more than 3 hours!! just chilling... [Edited 8/15/09 5:00am]

The woman who told me that got it wrong (or maybe I didn't understand her?). He just showed up in the same venue, to have a drink and lay back. Honestly, I don't understand what motivated him to go back a second time... surely not the music [Edited 8/15/09 5:01am]
