i dig it. shrug

of course, it could have used more deceptacons, more flying unicorns with names like "vincent" and "shadowdancer" and they'd have special unicorn rainbow lazers that they could shoot from their eyes, and honestly it could have used more gratuitous male frontal nudity and at least 2 scenes which prominently feature zeppelins and explosions, but what do i know? i guess my tastes just aren't considered "cool" in the world of newfangled music video making. rolleyes

Hell, I would have taken more of the actual artists and less random fans. I respect fans, but I don't need to see ya'll in a music video, but what do I know?

they could have at least made the fans be naked. or battling each other with boomsticks in a thunderdome setting. while riding dinosaurs. and being naked.

See, that's not how I took it. I thought they did it FOR the fans. Fan participation was ON PURPOSE. Now if their next few videos is shots of a bunch of fans then I will have something to be concerned about.

I loved the video and have loved the song since the first time I heard it.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Oh I assume it was done for the fans. It seems like a very nice gesture, like if my aunt made me a fruitcake (or if Prince sent me a cheap ass t-shirt in the mail).

Still, not impressed with the finished product.

fruitcake confused

nod

i think it's a very fitting video since W&L have been so much about the fans this year, interacting and engaging with their audience as much as they've been able. who knows if they'll always have this level of interaction with the fans, but this video is kind of a cool reminder of how involved they were with us this year.

Some people are never happy and will always shit on something that Prince hasn't peed on first.

Having said that, Anxiety is right.

It's amazing how much smoke everyone blew up Wendy & Lisa's asses when they opened up the opportunity for the "fans" to be in this video. They said it'd be a mashup of "fan" submitted footage. And true to orger form when the product you knew you were getting arrives you can't stop bashing it.

Ingrates!
no no no!

Thank you Wendy Melvoin & Lisa Coleman...

This was a good project!

Sure, Wendy & Lisa could have given us the standard scripted 5-minute clip that would have been forgotten in the wasteland of countless music videos, say, 9 months from now. bored But instead we got this -- a gift to fans that some of us will always be proud of.

Good show. thumbs up!

If you see an ingrate when you look in the mirror then take offense otherwise it's a general statement to everyone who was cool with the idea of the video when it was an open contest.

Guess I'm safe then.

Although if persons are less than impressed with the finished product, I don't see how that makes them an ingrate. But I forgot rule #1

Thou shalt not criticize the infallible W&L. zipped

Dang, some peeps are angry, mean or just hot to bitch on this site! Song is not great, not bad, catchy beat w/ not the most memorable lyrics, but the video is clearly for the fans. Think it was nice of them to actually use fans.

Why does a simple thing that seems to have been done out of love/appreciation for one's fans have to lead to bickering?
