I just love the music of this period, the original come configuration definetley would have been stronger. I am assuming poem was all the sex on the beach stuff segued through the released album. It would be great to hear Fuck D Press if it has survived. Its even better having the alternative mixes and versions off Crystal Ball. Where do the songs Lovesign and Poom Poom come in, they were the same period.
I really thought Strays of the World was one of the stronger songs as well and would have made a better album closer than Orgasm. Letitgo may be weak in the sense it was a radio friendly single tacked on at the end of the project, but it very catchy at least though. I still think Dark is one of his best ballads ever as well, its a shame this song doesn't get much love, its up there with songs like Adore honestly. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

And Britney Spears has worked with him, too, I think. I remember seeing Glam Slam Ulysses on video with Virgo. There was one of his choreographies that we liked very much, but now I've forgotten which one it was. I think that maybe it was for Interactive...? FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I remember when they performed "Endorphinmachine" on Arsenio. I thought that was pretty cool. I was too young to go see the actual show, though.

Hilarious that it took me all these years until right now to understand that "Come" wasn't an invitation, it was a demand. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Reminds me of a pic, I think it's from the beautiful experience, where Mayte is resting on one side of her hip crouching down ever so slightly, Tommy Barbarella is on the ground and the rest of the band is 50 feet in the background while Prince is in your face. pffffiiiuuuu... this thread almost led me 2 tears as it reminds me strange, hard but finally nice years of my life !
Almost no internet at that time to get informed, remember compuserve ? I - we were so impatient to hear news, release dates of hypothetical new albums... Damn U wrote something ...historical ! Respect, U brought to me some missing pieces of the puzzle. Strange, it is so far away now, but still alive...

I had never really thought about it much, but it makes sense that Letitgo was the last song recorded. It definitely has a different vibe than the rest of the album. Definitely foreshadows the Emancipation project from a production standpoint. * * *

Wow. Amazing read! This really brings me back to a truly exciting time as a fan. For some reason it felt like ages for Come and TGE to finally come out after obsessing over the songs and live recordings. I couldn't bear to wait for new Prince music. He really seemed poised for a massive "comeback" and then all of a sudden all that potential and momentum just fizzled out. I'm waiting for your dissertation on The Gold Experience! Nice work.
