Come is my favorite album of the 90s, but The Gold Experience is probably his best.

I have to agree with the general concensus and say The Gold Experience.
It's really a shame that the fallout between Prince and Warners prevented the album being marketed properly. For the non hardcore non bootlegage owning fan the accompaning tour was a bit of a non starter as there was only really TMBGITW that they could recognise. I remember that the NME review at the time was titled 'Glam Sham'and a lot of casuals left the venue ha;fway through when they realised they weren't gonna hear Purple Rain. Oh and noone has said 'The Truth' yet so I'm gonna say that as well! if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Emancipation! I played "joint 2 joint" hundreds of times. That's one of my all time favorite Prince song.

Even though D&P is my fav I'll say Emancipation-it really doesn't get a fair chance. It is really great.

the gold experience I'm listening to it now

For so long, it was Emancipation and Diamonds and Pearls, with not far behind.
Now, I play Chaos and Disorder and more than anything else from the nineties, unless Crystal Ball counts in this thread, specifically The Truth. Never thought I'd listen to that as much as I do, but I appreciate the immediacy and passion of it as much as the songs themselves. [Edited 8/12/09 15:29pm]

closely followed by "The Gold Experience" and "Diamonds & Pearls". I liked "Come", too. The first half of the 90s was a great time to be a Prince fan, even with the name change and all... See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

I agree about Emancipation not getting a fair chance. I know it was probably not commercially viable due to its sprawling length but there are some great songs on there. Also all the albums that Prince gave to Warners to get out of his contract have really stood the test of time-at the time i hated Chaos and Disorder but now I love it
