Make it look like my arguments are baseless. Make it look like you are wondering why I care. Make it look like you are wondering how I can care. Etc. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... Nothing like: 'We're terribly sorry but we messed up again, we hope to inform you very soon now!' ? Sorry, but if you don't like gigs at short notice I feel really sorry for you that you're a Prince fan...
You put stuff out of context. This is not a tour, noting organised. Just a one-off show. The festival was had its playlist full for weeks. Enter Prince. And all types of fuzziness about whatever. No commitments, no excuses, no communications, nothing. `They` should act a tiny bit as if we're all mature people with lives. Possibly....but so are you. Of course Montreux is not your standard festival, and I know it runs much longer than many other festivals. But the promotion of any artist at any festival surely is up to the festival and not the artist himself - right? Also, previous Montreux rumours have said that tix would be on sale from something like 4th July. - maybe this still holds true?

We get it. Prince is a jerk, past his prime and disrespects his fans.

Geez the mods really should put sometype of limit on the number of posts one whiny ass can make on one thread...seriously The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Yes, and they are doing a poor job. Agree? Also, previous Montreux rumours have said that tix would be on sale from something like 4th July. - maybe this still holds true?
Rumours are all that. Also: that sales date is pretty short notice for a regularly organised multi-day festival with international attraction. So yes I agree with you, but nothing new here. anybody from the uk thinking of going?
It seems a horid thing to say; but I can only go if my MJ tickets are refunded. I hope if I do get to go, Prince pays some sort of homage since the gigs would have aready started. "Sisters and brothers in the purple underground, find peace of mind in the pop sound!"

I read an article on spin.com that said he needs double hip replacements and he's refusing surgery based on religious beliefs. Maybe the stripped down band is his way of beginning to perform more laid-back shows that aren't as hard on his body as his performances were in the past? Are we beginning to see a "geriatric Prince"?

Like a tiny bit of thoughtfullness for his fans when he tries to plan his shows? "It" in that he's lost all charisma, talent and stage presence. I disagree. Maybe consider off-stage charisma? Like this planning for Montreux? The Lotusflow3r updates? The T-shirts? And that is just some 2009 stuff. Yeah, I mean like dancing plus almost 3 hour shows that are now lucky to push 1 hour 40/50 min. You're preaching to the choir about Prince acting normal about his business dealings there It's not something I endorse, but realistically speaking, I expect flat out flakiness. I totally consider off-stage charisma. Prince's business dealings, since I am a fan I will speak specifically of his dealings with his fans, leave plenty to be desired. He's lost "it" was just rather broad. Prince is definately a mixed bag and lately the bag is filled with more and more pencil shavings. I'm firmly planted in denial

Well then, maybe if I go c Estaire on the 11th or 12th - I won't have to worry about her having to leave the stage early just incase he thinks (OR SOMEONE ELSE THINKS) he might show up! [Edited 7/2/09 13:55pm]

I would love to go since Montreux isn't that far away from here, but still something to organize: how to go, where to sleep, who's coming with. All that childish behavior isn't worthy, not for me, not for him. I'm even wondering how concertorganisers put up with it. Because they know they'll make money off of him, thats how. meh. i can't even get excited for this. another one-off show, far away, on short notice, with huge prices. the only semi-interesting bit is that, thankfully, he seems to have ditched cora and josh.

! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

LondonStyle said: More Info On Prince & Montreux
Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Music on July 1st, 2009 by drfunkenberry Drfunkenberry.com Exclusive Photo Of Prince We just got word that Prince has rehearsed the 3 players: John Blackwell, Rhonda Smith and Renato Neto for 2 weeks now and taught them new and old material alike as well as a few covers. Sounds cool. Prince is using a smaller crew these days to allow space for the audience to properly hear his favorite players right now. We are being told that Prince will, of course be featured on guitar throughout the concert but mainly this year his goal is to showcase his sometimes overlooked vocal abilities. Hence the stripped down vibe of this crew. As shown on his most recent performance on the Tonight Show, Prince feels he is improving as a vocalist and has taken the time to re-work arrangements to showcase his gift. Some tunes will just feature Renato on piano and Prince on vocals. He is Prince’s favorite pianist and as a fan of his work, it’s a treat for him just listening to Renato every night without any audible distraction. Prince has also been listening alot to new jazz star Esperanza Spalding. He attended her concert in St. Paul, Minnesota recently and she and her impressive band came over to Prince’s Paisley Park Studio for a tour and jam session that lasted til sunrise. Now that’s hot! He loves to play with her and always teases he will join her band one day when he’s good enough. Ha! BTW, she is a must see if you ever y’ll get the chance. In addition to Esperanza, Prince is a big fan of Ana Moura. Her command of an audience is very impressive. She has a strong voice that radiates sensuality. Accompanied by 3 musicians when Prince saw her, Ana was a template as well as Esperanza for Prince’s new approach to performance. Awesome news. Let’s hope this concert makes it’s way to the United States soon!-Dr.FB Europe Tour ?? Prince is so f'ing talented... and he has so much music that would fit perfectly in a jazz festival type environment Seriously how many people play so many types of music and so well. No one Dance... Let me see you dance

One cannot stop to express what is wrong. A little compensation for the aura that some of us appear to see? Limiting such asses would be so un-American. A little realism won't do bad. Is it just about the format or also about the contents, that you are complaining? Will you be going to Montreux? Both shows? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... Physical situations aside, at some point soon P is going to have to make a transition to a more age appropriate type of music. Singing the sexy bedroom stuff much past 50 will start to look a bit silly. It was painful to see JB singing the same stuff in his final days. P should not go down that same road. What better place than a JAZZ festival to introduce his new more mature sound? Funky jazz seems to be the obvious direction. I'm just thinking out loud here about how I'd like to see it go down. First performance- what everyone might expect. Second performance- a killer jazz funk set that sets the tone for his future sound and then as time goes on more and more of the funky jazz and less and less of Little Red Corvette stuff.

Calm down dear, have a smoke and a pancake. It's great that Prince is bringing a tight version of a well liked band to play a gig like this. If he chooses to play an MJ tribute then cool but that's his choice. I'm just happy to reflect and appreciate the man at the moment for what he is. "Sheeeeeeeeit"

Couldnt care less. There was a time not to long ago where I traveled the world to see him play. You blew it P. With me at least.
And the band line up sounds same ol same ol. Yawn, need a new baby blue bentley? "My God it's full of Stars"
