I did this once when I had my radio show. I found songs not based on my ideals in life, but rather songs that were popular when significant events were taking place in my life. That could be graduation, bootcamp (Navy), new relationship, etc. I know there was some Prince in there, but I forget the list. I'd have to dig it up from Web archive.
