I think Prince is making a *HUGE* mistake by not allowing music videos and live performances on YouTube.

These days that is one of the main ways folks discover new music. I am always seeing people post YouTube clips of their favorite bands/songs on Live Journal & Facebook, or just via chat. Prince is missing out on a huge amount of exposure.

How do new people discover him these days? Thru 30 second clips on iTunes? If that's why we get sick of always hearing about When Doves Cry, LRC, Kiss, etc, its because frankly most of his catalog is hard to access for a taste.

That's how fans get enthused, and new fans are made IMHO.

Thoughts on this? I have a feeling that Prince would have a much larger fan base if he'd relax a little. And that in turn would make MORE $$ for him, cuz I guarantee you he's making very little if anything off his videos now. I mean, how many people really signed up for his site to watch the video clips primarily? For most, it was all about the possibility of new audio material from the vault I would wager.
