When Prince said, "Excuse me", to write that message, I thought he was going to grab Bria and start dancing with her onstage. Of course, he would not do that, but that thought came to my mind, since she was sitting right behind him. Prince looked and sounded awesome! I like how he made "Somewhere Here on Earth" a jazz song. Good job as always, Prince! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That was really nice. S.H.O.E is one of my favorite songs of his this decade so I dug it a lot. I wish it was something of his current CD but this is Prince we are talking about here, for better or worse. That note he wrote to Jay was very nice. Prince did his job and I'm proud of him. [Edited 5/28/09 21:49pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Not bad....The set was tight. I was hoping for a upbeat song and more of a 'Jay is still that dude" tribute but it was good.
Nice to think that Prince was on during Jay's last week. Why didn't he sing / support the song 2 yrs ago when it was released as a single? Any ways... Not complaining... He killed it! Thanks P and Thanks Jay Prime aka The Kid

...just... WOW!!! I don't even know where to start! "Somewhere Here On Earth", my favorite song from Planet Earth, and what a performance! Prince amazes me in his ability to cover his own songs in a way that makes them something entirely different and wonderful. He sang circles around himself, lol. What a complete mastery he has of every note and harmonic. And what a groovy set! Just hanging out at the club, with Prince as your Jazz Singer. And then the whole interlude with him interacting with the bartender, then walking over to his easel to sketch "...who knows WHAT", only to take his place back at center stage just in time to take "SHOE" up another notch! MAN! He worked that song to death! LOL. And looked fabulous doing it! Prince never fails to amaze me, but this performance was one of the best I've seen by him on television ever. And it didn't even require him to play one note on an instrument.

decent . was like when i read that this was the song he played (wanting to hear something i hadn't before ) and when he first started playing . the whole atmosphere was ah-right, jazzy and all, bria "waiting in the wings", for whatever reason . the 'do was kinda funky, throwback to the 90s prince , the outfit on the other hand . i got into it, kinda . dug renato's little interlude there, princey drawing and shit (couldn't make out wtf he wrote at the end though , kinda reminded me of his "dyslexia" in under the cherry moon ). was letdown by the song choice (i suppose it ties in with jay leaving and whatnot ), but that'll always be my jam regardless and his vocals were damn tight. princey ripped it, i'd say, as usual life's a bitch, but god forbid the bitch divorce me...

He played "Somewhere Here On Earth"....!!!!! That's one of my fav songs, so I was SO HAPPY! The set was awesome. It was set up like a jazz club, with a bar and everything. Bria was sitting at the bar with Prince and then Prince walked up to the mic to sing. He was wearing a sparkling silver and black tux jacket. And, when he was leaving the stage, I saw him take Bria's hand. lol Anyway, it was great! Thank you soooo much to the two people who made it possible for me to be there! U know who u are! <333 Oh, and Prince was gorgeous. As always. Edit: He didn't talk. :/ But, the song makes up for it! [Edited 5/28/09 18:38pm] can't wait to watch it in a few mins.!

I'd bet money that they were just hired musicians for the gig. Did anyone else notice the keyboard in the bar? I didn't notice that being Morris Hayes at first. VERY cool. Was that Blackwell on drums again?
