the original version gives the impression that he's longing for someone he doesn't know where she is, but on this performance, the whole mood is changed as if he is content knowing where she is, and translate to a love song instead. I guess. Yes I totally agree, on the studio version it's so random as tho she is drifting in space and he's calling out to her wishing to know what she's up to, and inthis performance I feel that he is directly singing to her, and embellishing the song, making it way more powerful and beautiful. Thank you Prince

Made ya wanna be right there. Prince looked foine from head to toe. The stage was set purrfect. Prince knew what to do and how to do it just sooo good. The falsetto was on point, band was on point and Bria although she did not open her mouth to a mic, looked gorgeous. Gurl, had on a badd dress...my favorite summer color. Made me almost during the whole experience but I didn't want to miss a thang. Jay seemed to really appreciate the kind gesture and really large note. Very cool indeed.

I'm SOOOO late. I've seen the performance only just today.
...Anyway, Somewhere Here on Earth was a really odd choice, but I have to say that performance was awesome! P's vocals were top notch, he looked great, and Renato and Rhonda were killer. Very nice send-off. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Prince will always be number one so we don't need BILLBOARDS to tally up the cd sales. FEEL BETTER, FEEL GOOD, FEEL WONDERFUL because after Prince's performance on Jay Leno of " Somewhere Here On Earth," there is no other way. [Edited 6/5/09 16:34pm]

Anyway, I didn't see this so much as a promotion of the new material as a send-off for Jay. Still, SHOE was an odd choice. I'd think any less sentimental song might be a better fit for the occasion. I went to my local Walgreen's today, and was talking to a cashier who works there. We always talk about Prince, because the cashier knows that I'm a fan of Prince's (and the cashier likes Prince too). The cashier asked me if I knew that Prince was on Jay Leno's show, and talking about it like I didn't know about it. I said something like, "Yes, I saw it. Prince was also on Ellen and a couple of other shows too". It cracks me up when people ask me if I saw Prince on this or that show, as if I could ever miss it. That would never happen, not in a million years. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
