Don't get me started on the "reasons" marijuana is illegal. Unless you have studied the subject extensively I probably know more about the history of the drug laws than you do. The reasons were ALL bullshit.

Obviously if one is obsessed with being high to the point that all they do is smoke weed their life will go downhill fast. Everything in moderation, right? But that person will do the same thing with alcohol, or pills, or gambling, or any other escapism they can find. That's a personality problem, not the weed.

where do you live, doctor??? i've got a cousin who works for the DEA...he'd like to have a "talk" with you.

cat got your tongue???? you want to know the details of other orgers' lives, and you don't have the nerve to give your address??? uh...what a (head) waste.

I wonder what was in that herb you smoked. I've been smoking for 22 years and still don't cough up gray shit. Nor does anyone I know, and most of them have smoked between 20-40 years... Also, neither myself or anyone I know who smokes are addicted to the point that all our money goes to weed. We all pay the bills, rent, none of us are "wealthy", we work for our money...
You might want to have a doctor test that "gray shit", that's not normal.

oh, doctor, you are SO knowledgable. because neither you nor your friends have coughed up "gray shit", it's impossible that NDRU can cough up gray shit. that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. Same thing with your comment about "not being addicted because you pay rent and bills." Have you lost ALL your brain cells? Don't strain your brain trying to answer that question. My friend, too, was not "wealthy"--until he quit the dope, that is. But it's not going to matter what I say. Toke up, my friend--lose those brain cells at break-neck speed. it's cool with me.

Where did I say it was impossible he is coughing up gray shit? No where!
I said, coughing up gray shit is not a normal reaction to smoking weed. I even suggested getting a doctor's opinion.
The comment about paying bills was in response to the statement that ALL his/her money went to weed. My point is, this is not because of the weed, this is because of bad priorities... Pay the bills THEN buy a sack!
And, you're still saying weed kills brain cells. Do some research. You're citing the Dr. Heath / Tulane Study of 1974. The study has been debunked for over 20 years and is considered gutter science by the medical community. However, D.A.R.E. and other anti-drug programs still cite it's findings as fact. Argue that weed is bad all you want. But bring some facts instead of claims that have been repeatedly proven to be bullshit.

I suggest anybody who is interested in facts should read the book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herer. Also, do some research at NORML's archives. Or perhaps, talk to a physician in one of the states that has legalized medicinal marijuana. If all that is too much work, watch the movie "Grass" narrated by Woody Harrelson or "American Drug War: The Last White Hope" by Kevin Booth. I'm not saying anything radical here, just not mainstream.

Yeah, that's the American way... SHUT UP!!
Hopefully he is aware that although Marijuana is still illegal in the United States, we still (for now) have freedom of speech and freedom to debate. Nothing about my posts here are illegal and therefor none of the DEA's business. However, if you'd like to invite him to this thread, I would enjoy the debate...
Tell him to bring facts that can be backed up with evidence because my research goes beyond self experimentation...
biggrin

Thanks to all for heated debate, if anyone's pissed at me, take a puff, you'll get over it!

You don't understand me. What I'm saying is:
Weed does not destroy families.
Drug laws do destroy families.
Being arrested and going through the criminal justice system can destroy a family.
Smoking weed cannot.
Unless it's an extremely fragile family...
Oh, weed does not destroy brain cells either. Only one study ever claimed it did, and that study was debunked over 20 years ago. But I understand you wouldn't realize this as anti-drug crusades still cite the debunked study and still claim that it does destroy brain cells.
And trust me, ALL of my loved ones are aware I smoke weed, if it was damaging them they would let me know and if need be cut me loose.

I'm baaaaack!!!! it's nice that the good doctor has cited ONLY pro-marijuana sources. I guess that makes you no better than me. I think you think i'm some freakin' republican who is afraid to let a fart for fear it won't sound like my daddy's farts---you KNOW how much they hate change!!! I am a card-carrying, dyed-in-the-wool liberal, but that doesn't mean i buy a damn thing you're saying. I smoked pot for six years...all it did for me was stifle my ambitions and put thirty pounds on my body. that's constructive, huh doctor??? why would i watch a movie featuring woody harrelson?? that dude has been stoned since his first day on the cheers set. One last comment...i truly believe that people cannot become PHYSICALLY addicted to pot, but i DO believe they can become PSYCHOLOGICALLY addicted to it. you know, i do not have an addictive personality, but if I think real hard about how good a Captain morgan and coke tastes, i'll usually give some serious thought to having me a drink. I have never been PHYSICALLY addicted to the stuff---i don't drink but maybe once or twice a year--at Christmas and Thanksgiving--and i don't drink to get drunk EVER. my friend always said he wasn't addicted to pot, but years after he quit, he said he was drawn to the drug psychologically.

If you'll check my prior posts, I mentioned that it could be psychologically addictive. It sounds like pot only had negative effects for you, glad you quit. As to why watch Grass or check out the other resources I suggested, to hear the other side of the debate that is never mentioned by the mainstream media so you can develop your opinions with more facts. And of course I'm using pro-marijuana sources, this is the side of the debate I am on. By the way, I cited an anti-marijuana source, one that has been proven false. You cited NO sources, only anecdotes.

I'm off to work, so, no, I'm not stoned right now. I look forward to catching up on the posts when I return, and yeah, I'll be smoking up while I read them...

yes and no. Weed kept me continually broke, and yes perhaps this is because it's illegal & expensive.

But my choice to buy it instead of basically anything else was because it's addictive, not just because it's illegal.

So it didn't make me an evil person, or drive me to crime, and in many ways it helped open my mind. But it is not without it's negative side, the most obvious being that I am practically still coughing up gray shit 6 years after my last bowl.

I wonder what was in that herb you smoked. I've been smoking for 22 years and still don't cough up gray shit. Nor does anyone I know, and most of them have smoked between 20-40 years... l4oa: you are so right...my best friend didn't use any other drug, and his wife and four kids left him. I'm so tired of people saying marijuana is harmless. It's illegal for a reason, and just because people can't die from using it doesn't mean other things can't be lost.

Pick up a history book, friend. Marijuana is only illegal because of racist fears of white women being corrupted by black and brown men. That's it. The ONLY reason.

I feel sorry for your friend if his family really left him over something so trivial as pot, though I'd suggest there was probably a whole lot more at play. A person has to be mighty dumb to actually believe that anti-drug propagandha of the War on Drugs.

to be fair, there were more reasons, but all of them were as asinine as the one you mentioned, and clearly racists motivation was at the top of the list...
For example, there was a brand new process invented at the time for processing hemp into paper, the Hearst corporation didn't like that as it would diminish their monopoly on trees to paper, so they used their newspapers to spread the racists lies and con the masses into accepting the prohibition. Unfortunately, my friend, way too many people believe the propaganda, thanks for helping spread the truth...

You are correct. I mention racism as the only reason because though there were economic motivations as well, finances and business aren't my strong points and I'd be underprepared to explain the history of that. Racist fears did play strongest though, particularly in certain areas of the continent.

Regardless, THC is not the danger certain Presidents' wives and lobby groups have made it out to be.
