o'h man.....let's just say that was the first time i realized the power of music and how it can touch mind, body and soul - it was the first time i truly "experienced" music. And a experience it was in my 15 year state.

SOTT knocked me for 17 loops the first time I saw it & is still my favourite all-time number-one five-star ace concert film. I often play the Forever In My Life/It segment for non-believers & they're generally instantly converted.

Where is the proper DVD release? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

'official' release: I recall that the Canadian (?) release was considered best, but is it indeed sourced from the best materials? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... Amazing dvd! I absolutely love it! I still watch it 2-3 times a year and enjoy it everytime. I remember the first time I saw it many, many years ago, I was completely blown away. I've lent the dvd to friends who are not Prince fans and even they can not deny how great it is.

http://www.amazon.ca/Prin...503&sr=8-1 I have it (this Canadian release). It's sourced from an excellent print of the original film. It also has remastered 5.1 surround-sound audio. The picture is crystal clear and has the correct aspect ratio of the theatrical release. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Sheee....I taped my SOTT off Movieplex a few years ago.
I was just sitting on my booty waiting for the next movie to come on and it said "Prince-Sign of the Times" NEXT. I didn;t know what the hell SOTT was at the time, but you should have seen me running laps around my house trying to locate a blank tape. I got it in the VCR like right as the concert started. I was glued to floor, mouth agape by the spectacle before me. Nothing beats Princey sliding on the floor on his back to "Housequake". I love a Man who:

I thought it was Region 0... but yeah, you can probably do a firmware crack on your player or get an inexpensive region-free player. It's also NTSC and not PAL, if that still makes a difference in Europe. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Was the film shot at 25 fps?
And who thinks region coding is an `effective` measure (a la DMCA)? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

NTSC could be a problem, but i think most DVD players nowadays will play it for you I didn't have any problems.....

udo said: Was the film shot at 25 fps?
I'm going to assume it was shot at a frame speed consistent with the era in which it was filmed, so probably 24p. Although the U Got The Look segment was shot on video and transferred to film stock. So the difference in frame-rate (I'm guessing 30p) and quality is definitely evident in this portion of the movie. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I know that there can be some artifacts when playing an NTSC on a PAL player, I just wasn't sure if there were work-arounds for it. If the screen supports NTSC and the player plays the content 'as is' without converting to PAL the quality should not be degraded. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
