Larry G was a bad ass back in the day. I believe he was referring to Larry G beating the shit out of the fool that hit them (the accident). They were busy with the accident/fight tand they didn't have time to do a lot of drugs so they played well that night. So the fight/accident ended up being a good thing for them.

We only compared Bria's music to Chante Moore's not because of how it sounds b/c Bria can not compare on any level of Chante Moore's vocal abilities but the sensual side of her music. Almost like this album was made for Chante to sing and not Bria.

I do feel bad for proteges of P's. Prince has dedicated fans that want more and more music from P. The protege albums are mainly Prince music with the protege singing with limited input. But the demand for Prince!! Most just wish he was singing. When I talked to Chaka fans back in the New Power Pack days..they said 'that is a Prince album with Chaka singing the vocals.' It would be great if P worked with some legends and let them have more input/shine and that imo would really change the sound.

Its easier to have 100 influences and have your own sound and be yourself. Instead of trying to make songs that sound like Jimi or Sade. Early Prince we always guessed he liked a range of musicians but we never did know. Now we have songs that sound just like Jimi and James Brown but What we love is when Prince sounds like Prince, out of this world and original.

Me gonna enjoy Bria as Bria and quit with the Sade/Chante stuff. '2nite' like Tavis said is the best bet imo.

why does everyone like "2nite" so much? to me it sounds like a
lazy rewrite of one of them "gett off" house style remixes.

there are many much better songs on the album. i'd say that the
only one that i don't like too much and that disrupts the flow
a bit is in fact "2nite".

weird.

Beautiful, wonderful, relaxed interview that proves Prince is actually more normal than all of his crazy fans! Bria did fine too! I bet they're having a great time laughing their butts off at us...I also enjoyed the greeting to his good friend Larry Graham with wife...lol

He was talking about the music. he used the story as an example of how they had two different sides to them... one of love, the other of aggression and competition and how that emanated through their music. at least, thats what i picked off of it.

exactly, and not just through the music in Larry's case, as they kicked some poor guys ass!

2 reiterate what eye wrote recently:)

Prince's interview cmd more insightful although Prince is very introverted and eye no he loathes talking in front of cameras. It's always wonderful 2 hear him speak and share funny stories in addition 2 the topics he has 2 touch on constantly.
As 2 what Ms Valente said, eye din't like what she said...2 me she came across as being self interested, arrogant and ungr8ful. Eye was angered and hurt when she didn't even mention Prince as being part of the production of the album. Eye'm not even sure she can distinguish between musical genres...Nasty Girl and 2Nite r in no way comparable nor worth mentioning, it should have bn compared 2 Fantasia Erotica. And then she made it cm as if her father was an equal 2 Prince in talent!

yeahthat lol

The most facinating part of the interview was when he admitted channeling his ANGER into his music... i appreciate that he must channel other emotions into his playing.. but im still left with the notion that, Dude must have ALOT of anger... wink

I bet Prince gave her shit about saying during the video break that it was exceptional elevator music or something like that. I think that was supposed to be a humorous in-joke between her and Tavis. Don't think that was meant to be aired.

Prince has been out with a bunch of different girls in la and he sees a girl in nyc who he was out with on saturday. Watch your back he cant be faithful to one person to save his life. He is 51 years old and still playing girls and hanging out in night clubs, what does that tell you? Dont put all your eggs in one basket be smart Bria he is not the kind of man you think he is. Liv4Love - I think you have to ask yourself how are humans were created and if you believe God created all then you would then have to admit Jehovah has instilled in all human beings in their hearts morality and the fundamental bible beliefs.

If you think mankind and the universe was just an accident and there was no designer/creator of the entire universe that is balanced and works in such a cohesive manner - The reality is there is a creator who has instilled in all humans morality however humans have free will and can choose to follow God's standards or choose to not follow God. So to ask a question of if there was no God wouldnt people still have morality -- the reality is without God there would not be an universe or people in existance.

Ya know, this is one of the reasons people get turned off to religion. NO ONE knows for sure whether there is a God or not. They can know for themselves. It can be their truth. Absent proof, it is all opinion. My opinion is some of the best people I know do not believe in a God.

I also believe it's funny to hear Prince talk about Jehovah and morals while extolling the virtues of oral sex and shorts not being able to hide one's cheeks.

“Prince made little secret of his dalliances with numerous other women. While one-night stands were a frequent occurrence, steady companions were singer Jill Jones and Sheila E., who was also emerging as an important musical collaborator. A tense and unpleasant dynamic developed between Susannah and Sheila who encountered each other not infrequently as a result of their intersecting musical and personal relationships with Prince. And Sheila’s emotions, like Susannahs, were affected by her shifting fortunes...

Each of Prince’s "girlfriends" had something in common-their willingness to accept (although not always entirely without protest) his insistence on maintaining multiple relationships. And while few of his serious romantic interests were complete pushovers or airheads- Sheila E was a stunningly talented musician, and Susannah hailed from a sophisticated, musically inclined family- they were nonetheles submissive in their relationships with him. Conversely, his affairs with more headstrong women, such as madonnna, sinead o ‘connor, and the new york artist-singer carole davis, tended to be very short-lived.
"I don’t think he actually wanted to be around anyone more wordly or knowledgeable than himself for very long." Observed Leeds. "He gravitated to more simple women who’d settle for staying in his house, sharing popcorn and movies and not challenging his comings and goings."

LOL, for some reason I can believe that. What I meant by "her story" was what she told Tavis. That's why Prince couldn't be explicit or clear about how they met. lol

I got so much out of the 2 Prince interviews:

I appreciate how he shared about his journey towards confidence and excellence. I feel that I can learn from it. When I hear him talk with his soothing and calm voice, it is very compelling and inpiring to apply it to my experiences. Thank you Prince.hug

It was nice to hear him talk about other topics besides the faults of the music industry. Though it doesn't bother me when he talks about it. I can relate it to what I learned in some Commmercial music courses I took a few years ago. I found some things interesting and worth of research like the chemtrails. Even though I don't agree with his religious views, it is still a pleasure to listen and watch him expressing himself. smile
