Thanks for posting Bellanoche. It is good that you provided hard evidence of this. It is true that the dumping of toxic waste has beeen a problem in minority neighborhoods for quite some time. I think more people should do the research before they conclude that it's nonsense. This is why it is important to "educate". It seems from Prince's interview with Tavis, Prince apparently stimulated some minds to question and do research on chemtrails.

I also wish we could hear "more" of Prince's views on this matter, along with Dr. Cornel West, Tavis Smiley, Dick Gregory, and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. If Prince had a roundtable discussion with all these guys and posted it on his site for members to view that would be so awesome.

Would also be nice if all of them with other guest speakers invited, could do a national "Wake Up America" tour, and discuss issues like this. Now that would be getting the information out, and people would pay just to hear all of them speak. Could you imagine that line-up? I feel like Prince left us hanging in the dust, as I'm sure many of us would like to hear more of his views on the chemtrails and issues discussed at the SOBU conference, as he states he shows a tape of it to friends/guests who visit his home, so obviously the issues discussed at that conference has some importance to him, but he did leave many of us thinking about what was discused, enough to question it and do some research.

This would be awesome!!! That would be worth more than the $77 I paid to join.

I know, can you imagine being able to witness a discussion with Prince and all of those guys just touching on issues of interests within the black community and also social issues that affect all Americans and other world issues? (i.e. economics, health, youth, family, foreign relations, religion, environment, etc.) I agree, that would be worth $77. I mean who said that an artist's website had to be limited to music? Isn't it music that many artists in the past and now used to raise awareness of social and also political concerns? Gil Scott Heron, Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, Joan Baez, Richie Havens,, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, just to name a few.

Prince got it wrong! It wasn't 8 Presidents before George Washington, it was actually 16 (1 was President for a day). I not sure why good old George didn't make it a point recognize the men before him as Presidents. I guess he pulled a power trip like Prince and just didn't wanna give them no credit for the work they did. At any rate, they were Presidents, how can you say they were not? It's like saying a woman is a little pregnant, no such thing, either you are or not. http://library.thinkquest...early.html

By the way President Obama is not the 1st black President! He is the 1st black President to have the black skin tone. http://fookembug.wordpres...ack-obama/

The second link is full of misinformation...John Hanson (who was President of the Continental Congress) was not a Moor..

The most common myth about Hanson was that he was the first President of the United States.

The origin of the claim that Hanson is the "forgotten" first President stems from a 1932 book by Seymour Wemyss Smith titled John Hanson – Our First President. Officially Hanson was the third President of the Continental Congress, successor to the first two men to hold the office, Samuel Huntington and Thomas McKean. He was the first to serve a full one-year term, and the first to formally use the title President of the United States in Congress Assembled.

The office of the President of the United States in Congress Assembled was, despite the name, not an executive post. It bears a closer resemblance to the modern Speaker of the United States House of Representatives or Vice President of the United States. The office was in existence from 1781 to 1788, under the Articles of Confederation. It was replaced by the modern office of President of the United States when the Constitution took effect in 1789. The modern office is significantly more powerful as an executive position.

Not gonna wrangle on if he was the 1st President, but he was the 1st BLACK President with the skin tone to match his ancestory.http://www.dickgregory.co...ngton.html Unlike Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, which had black ancestory and showed traits of their ancestory. http://www.youtube.com/wa...8d4BOfTn28

Overall, this was one of Prince's best interviews. He came off as relaxed, normal and weird all at once but yet not shy and uncomfortable in the process. I don't know if I've ever heard him laugh as much as he did towards the end of the 2nd night. I'm glad that Prince mentioned the deal with Target since Tavis never once said that Lotusflow3r was sold there as well as Prince's website. Bria also seems to be really nice and cool. She's a very beautiful woman with a good sense of humor and that was great to see. Both Prince and Bria seemed humbled and appreciative to be where they are at this point in their lives. I would have loved it if Tavis had asked Prince questions regarding P's beef with YouTube and a couple of other things but I wasn't disappointed with what I got. It was a very good interview and I hope Prince does another one before the Lotusflow3r era ends.

I saw only part one.

Overall very interesting but that was kind of. He was holding the physical CD but kept only plugging the site....which I don't think gives you the physical CD. Come on Travis. Other than that, pretty interesting and informative. Travis is a bit of gushing fan boy that plays it very safe but also gets to some interesting info about Prince's thoughts and his life.

Very true. You should go to pbs.org and check out Pt 2 when it comes online. I enjoyed that one a little bit more but what you said was still true. Tavis played it safe and it was obvious that even with him being Prince's friend, he's a big fan too.

True. He could create a "Discussion Room" forum or "Meeting of the Minds" forum. Not for members to participate, as we already know he doesn't seem to like message boards on his site, as that's a whole 'nother story, but to create a section on his site consisting of roundtable discussions that he has with scholars and other individuals of interest, as well as discussions on the status of the music industry. Get some other musicians/artists at the table to tell of their experiences in the music industry. I think that would be of interest to many, depending on where their "interests" are at.

He could have been plugging the site to get more members to join, because you get the music from all 3 cds with an exception of "Crimson & Clover" when you join the site. If people go to the site, they'll know they'll have to join to to get it. However, I agree that Tavis' should have mentioned that the cd could be purchased at Target as well.

Actually, I thought it was called for. I did not mean it to be offensive. I was curious because, as Prince stated in the interview, some white people need to know more about what's going on with the rest of us. Whenever I have these kinds of discussions with people, my experience has been that the white people with whom I am talking are the ones who are quick to dismiss theses theories as nonsense or call people "nuts" for believing it, just as 2Freaky4Church did.

baaaaa.....I don't believe its a black/white issue. IMO many black/white folks would laugh at the idea of chemtrails. All these chemicals end up dispersed in the air 30,000 feet above us. We all breathe air and water we drink? Think about it: basic science.

--
food for thought:

Depending on what the alleged purpose of the chemtrail spraying would be, spray released above 30,000 feet is likely to be dispersed in a highly unpredictable manner, due to high-altitude winds.

Dramatic, wide cloudy trails illuminated by London sunsetHow do aircraft accused of depositing "chemtrails" manage to pass inspection without the deception being discovered (unless these aircraft are in fact owned, regulated, and operated by the government/military complex itself)?
Assuming drugging the population is the purpose, the people behind the conspiracy would breathe the same air the population breathes, so any harm inflicted on the population would also be inflicted on those in charge of the conspiracy, unless they were made immune through vaccination.

I'm also glad that Prince clarified the Sade comment. It made me think of the org when he said that. giggle I wasn't bent out of shape over it but a lot of people here were and I'm glad that it was made clear for them. He was on point with Bria's CD. It definately has a romantic vibe on it.

I agree because he was setting her up for high expectations when he mentioned that to the journalist that interviewed him, and that would have been putting a lot of pressure on her with high expectations on her. Especially since a lot of Sade fans have been missing Sade. Sade is an artist in her own right with her own unique flavor that I doubt could ever be duplicated.

However, as far as Bria's sound, she has more of a smooth-jazz flavor that would go over well with Anita Baker fans. I could see smooth jazz stations playing her type music. Especially tracks like "All This Love" and "Everytime"; "Something You Already Know"(a very sexy, but tastfully sexy, yet smooth track); only comment I could say about that track, on some parts in the song, she could have put a little more feeling into some parts of that track as there's a part in that song, where it sounds like she is dragging her voice along, I think it is one of the parts where she repeats "..all up close to me"..other than that, it's one of my favorite tracks on that cd.
"Home" and "Another Boy" are on the R&B side, and I'm quite surprised it's not being played on R&B stations at the moment, because those 2 tracks pretty much falls into mainstream R&B, but then again most of us have questions on those behind the radio stations and their decisions on what type of music they choose to play; "2nite" is definitely for the club scene; "Elixer" should be played behind bedroom doors, to be played when the kiddies are out at Aunty's or grandma's house, while a mom/dad is spending some quiet or alone time together or for couples that haven't seen each other for a week and can't wait to "get it on and rollin".

As far as Prince working with other artists, it would be cool if we could get a collaboration with Anita Baker. Also, I'd like to see him work with "Esthero". Esthero also has sort of a sexy, smooth jazz flavor, but she also has experience working with other hip-hop artists, so she could gravitate to various flavors. I like her track "Thank Heaven for You" which I find to be a very, mellow track.
[Edited 4/29/09 9:24am]

When Anita's last project came out, she kept saying her next album would definitely be a jazz album. Wouldn't it be cool if she and Prince collaborated on a few songs...or the whole album?!?!?

My problem with the chemtrail conspiracy, as with many other conspiracy theories, is that they offer an easy explanation often to the detriment of more complex analysis of the problems that our society faces.

In his discussion, Prince very simplistically links chemtrails to neighborhood violence... as though the rise in violent crime in certain neighborhoods can easily be explained away by chemtrails.

The answer is much more complex than that has to take into account both structural changes (politics, economy, joblessness, failing schools, etc.) and social/cultural changes.

While it may be compelling to latch on to easy answers for very complex problems that have seemingly been impossible to solve... chemtrails is not the answer. Hard, deep, real analysis is.

Conspiracy is interesting, but yeah I don't think a plane miles up explains why certain city blocks are prone to violence. I've seen jet trails for my entire life & never been in a fight.

I believe Bellanoche was referring to the part when Prince mentioned what was discussed during the State of the Black Union conference, about educating white folk "about us" ("us" referencing those of African/African-American descent), he wasn't referring to the chemtrail issue when he said that.

2freaky, I've always seen you calm when discussing these issues in P&R, but in this case, I think you're getting the wrong impression.

When he stated America is a plantation, he was referring to all Americans being indentured servants/slaves to the system itself, not referencing America's history of blacks working on plantations years ago by forced enslavement.

Secondly, toxic waste dumping has been an issue in predominantly minority communities for a while now, as Bellanoche and others pointed out (i.e. posted articles with information about it). So you may want to do some research on it before you draw conclusions.

Now, this whole issue of chemtrails is new to me, so I will have to do research before I draw any conclusions to it. I would like to say that although Prince mentioned the SOBU conference, he did not point out specific areas of interest that was discussed during that conference, well with the exception of the chemtrail issue that he touched on regarding Dick Gregory, I believe which had to be from a previous SOBU conference, as I do not recall Dick Gregory as a guest on stage, at the recent conference.

Would have liked to hear Prince's take on the foreclosure issue with subprime lenders and other issues/ideas of empowerment and major changes and improvement needed within the black community, the criminal justice system in America in regards to minorities, and other issues of concern that could lead to improvement. I would also like to hear his take on all these issues regarding America as a whole, as well.
