Is LotusFlow3r the "guitar record" that we have wanted 4 so long?

Every track rocks and there is plenty of fresh sounding innovative guitar work. There is even a butt kicking Hendrix song which squarely takes on anything from Jesse Johnson's Bare My Naked Soul. Will the hard purple rock fanatics be satisfied?

I thought we got it with 'The Undertaker'.

Lotusflow3r has echoes of that and TRC, it's a treat.

I would say so, I remember after the O2 concerts, everyone here was begging for a rock orientated album, it has been delivered and P has this time been very careful not to sell out, by giving us MPLS as well, an act of genius by him, and it is also nice to see that he listens to his fans cool
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

It seems he listened - it is the first evidence that I have seen that Prince actually did something partially based on the word-of-mouth from the devoted fanbase. I always knew he was aware of what we said. He is the first real proof of that.

This album captures Prince's amazing live guitar playing ability better than any other studio album by him. He finally let loose in the studio the way he does live. Wall of Berlin, Dreamer, Back to the Lotus...AMAZING ROCK GUITAR!

Batman, meaning you think he has not released a better album since then, maybe, you should go back to the cave and rethink that one lol

Maybe change the thread title to Lotusflower.the wink Guitar record weve been craving for so long....
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Is there any way to remove the lyrics from some of these? He kills the guitar work but some of the lyrics are just... doh!

Although it misses in some places, I feel this is THE guitar heavy album that I've been waiting at least 15years for...

I like the Lotus Flower Disk. However, I can't say it's a perfect album. I think it's more consistent than a majority of his work. Including MPLSsound

SLAMMIN RECORD!!!
"LOTUSFLOWER" is Prince's best work since "THE RAINBOW CHILDREN."
His guitar work on this album takes me back to that 2001 Masterpiece.
An Instant Classic!!!!

Ehh, as a whole i wouldn't say its the guitar record I would have liked. But Dreamer is definitely the guitar driven song I've been waiting for him to make guitar

Smart recognizing TRC as a Prince masterpiece. I mentioned this in another thread about masterpieces and had some maysayers.

Well I am very satisfied with this being the guitar CD we've wanted. Definately.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Well, it's not as rocking as the unreleased 1993 version of Come, which had danceable rocktunes like Interactive, Come, Endorphine Machine, Peach, Loose! and the classic Dolphin. nod

On the new album, I think only Dreamer lives up to that past legacy. biggrin

The rest of the Lotusflow3r tunes just aren't particularly rocking, except maybe Crimson And Clover which is a cover! disbelief

The last truly great rockers he made were Baby Knows, Vavoom and Cinnamon Girl. biggrin

Bare My Naked Soul is a perfect example of an actual rock album, which Lotusflow3r is not. biggrin
