"Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic" for me, although that's kinda cheating as it's from 1988. I'll go with "3121".

As far as the music goes...I really like "Emale,"

Now there's a song that doesn't get enough love.

Doesn't rightly qualify for this thread as it's more than a decade ago, but the vocal feel and tight harmonies are sublime.

Camille always gets me going (one of my all time faves is Good Love but that's not in last 10 years)

In a couple of hundred years historians may discover that Prince's lyrics were written by Christopher Marlowe.

I agree! It's always a bit grating when folks around here completely pan that last 10 years, because to me there have been some absolute gems. Here are some of my favs from the officially released albums of the last 10 years.

Rave - The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Sun, the Moon and Stars (minus the reggae part biggrin ), Silly Game
The Rainbow Children - Muse 2 the Pharoah, The Rainbow Children, Everywhere, Last December
N.E.W.S - West
Musicology - Reflection, The Marrying Kind/If I Was the Man in Your Life, Call My Name, What Do U Want Me 2 Do
3121 - 3121, The Word, Black Sweat, the Dance
Planet Earth - Future Baby Mama, Somewhere Here on Earth, Planet Earth, Chelsea Rodgers
Lotusflow3r - Dreamer, Colonized Mind, Love Like Jazz
Mplsound - Dance 4 Me, U're Gonna C Me, Valentina (minus the pseudo-Rap part biggrin )
perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

I think it depends on the mood...

It could be "Dance 4 Me" and "Indigo Nights" from the 21 nights CD cool

The falsetto is perfectly placed. The lyrics and delivery are emotional. The raw production is right up my alley. "The undulating acrobat"?... pure Prince.

In a pale blue spotlight
A figure spins around and the voice calls out 2 U:
"Baby, do U like the sound?"
The undulating acrobat ready 2 do your bidding says:
"Come, U must let me dress U
But first, I must do a fitting"
Do U like it fast?
Do U like it slow?
I know it's better if we make it up as we go
And oh, by the way, tell me now, what's your name?
I'll let it sweeten my tongue just once
And never speak it again
Since this is our little secret
Just once and never speak it again
This is our little secret

Untarnished memory in a pale blue spotlight
Oh, let me hear U scream
If U're ready 4 one nite alone...
With me

I did not like that song at first, but it's grown on me. It's a good jam type song. Reminds me of "Hello" because it's all one chord (as is "America").

A million days
Wall of Berlin
Dear Mr Man
3121
Chelsea Rodgers
Mr Goodnight

Those are some of the ones i like alot, what the best song on an album has been, probably Beautiful Strange
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I'm glad to see all the love on here for "One Night Alone." The whole song is amazing, but that intro just kicks my butt up and down. The suspenseful high notes counter-balanced and anchored down by those ominous, thudding low notes, both of which are overtaken by that aching, beautiful descending melody right before the vocals start. I still get chills listening to that.

Other favorites of this decade include "If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life," "A Million Days," "Love," "Fury," "Black Sweat," and most of the new records. A little too soon to call that one yet.
