I don't think he's ever paid too much attention to the Org...

It somewhat bemuses me why people who dislike Prince are on a Prince fan-site in the first place.

Whats a hater exactly? Is it someone who hates someone else, or someone who has something to say about what that person does or how they do it which is less than positive? People have said that my music, singing and my playing has flaws, as well as my website, and even my attitude, but i wouldnt call them haters. They just have an opinion, and god forbid, maybe theyre right sometimes. Maybe theyre wrong. And maybe its down to me to just take it all. I cant imagine a person who can take criticism ever using the word "hater".

well the 'Haterz' are basically just opinionated/unatifsfied/wish i had things my way/negative people. Ever saw a movie and thought it was really bad and you would say things about you think would make it better? Same thing.

They have opinions, they just say things in a really HARSH way.

It would be ludicrous to speak so threateningly regarding fans who criticise his music.

Rather I believe it to be a reference to the hired web sheriff, saying if "haters" bootleg his music, upload on youtube etc than they're being watched.

I would think that someone who is secure would quite easily be able to tell the difference between criticism for its own sake, and criticism which is justified, or at least understandable. Theyd also be able to learn something from all criticism, regardless of why it is being given, or how its given.

For example, Simon Cowell often gives his criticism in a stupid and unnecessarily harsh way, and its wrong of him to do that. But, more often than not, theres more than a grain of truth in what he says. For someone whos just starting out, its understandable that criticism could maybe break them, but someone like Prince, who knows very well how liked, respected and acknowledged he is, should be able to take criticism.

Its not that we are experts, or we could do things better than him. But if someone joins a fan website because they love what you do, and then they criticise something, its a bit silly to sulk when that happens. No one here is a hater, we just criticise when we feel the need to. Its not even that we necessarily know what we're talking about, and at the end of the day this whole forum is just chit chat, and yes sometimes we wish he'd do things differently but inside we know that we're just projecting out own vision. But that shows how much we're into him.

For instance i have a few negative things to say about Prince's lyric writing, but that doesnt mean to say that i dont also have very good things to say about it. He should just take all criticism and say "hmm, interesting". No one here hates Prince, thats why we're here. In fact, many of us are quite obsessed, so no wonder we get neurotic. Its nothing personal, we're just crazy about him. He should take it as a compliment, instead of interpreting that as being a hater.

Hi Prince.

It's easy to think he specifically means us, but I think the concept of people bashing stuff on the internet is bigger than the org.

In general he's bashing on people who do not contribute anything to the world but nastiness. It's easy to tear something apart, much harder (and far more brave) to create something.

There is a difference between saying, "You know, I really don't like this album and here's why," and saying, "This album sucks. Everyone who likes this album has bad taste in music. Prince needs to retire because he's past it." Can you tell the difference? One is positive criticism, the other is negative.

I didn't like Planet Earth either, but I didn't post a bunch of negative things about it. There were a few songs that made it worth owning (Guitar, for one.) I just don't see the point in hating on the internet - Prince is a musician who lives for music, he's not going to stop just because a bunch of people don't like his new music. There's enough people that do enjoy it, that maybe he just wants to keep on making it, even if only a small minority buy it.

And what other musician has 35 studio albums? Prince has released so much music, that surely you can listen to what you like, and leave the new stuff to people who...like the new stuff.
