I won't (5 decent tracks i'll be satisfied) I'm tired of that crap. I want a record that I can enjoy and listen to all the way through

I'll get over it... I've been dealing with that since Batman to the present.... but it bothers me that dude can't put a great album together anymore

i'm fine with it at this point because i put what i like on my jPod and never have to hear what i don't like again. hence why i can't name one song from planet earth, lol.

yeah... true... thank goodness for the ipod lol!

It'll be interesting to see just how the org receives Lotuflow3r now, after a couple of negative reviews.

3121 and Planet Earth got decently positive hype from the critics, yet were/are regularly slated on here. With the reverse being true in terms of expectation from these reviews, this could be interesting.....
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Well I personally havent been excited about a Prince release in years, and these albums are no exception. I'll probably like them as much as both of these reviewers did. But what do I know! I thought The One U Wanna C was the best song Prince has released in AGES!!!

All the songs eye heard so far from the album (There'll never b another (like me), colonized mind, crimson & clover, disco jellyfish, wall of Berlin, and Another Boy) have bn varied and xtraordinarily Princely so eye was more than pleased...eye don't agree at all that it's a slow album.

"slinky-slick vox" - ????? Where do these reviewers hone their skill, the Wanna-Be School Of Amurrikah? C'mon, these kinds of phrases are just plain played.

Overall, I give this review 3 out of 5 stars - it's a review from a reviewer who thinks she knows how...

This is a better review for providing more information... but a few things did strike me:

LOtUSFLOW3r and Elixer (featuring his new protégé Bria Valente), both of which are more appropriate for smooth jazz stations like 94.7 The Wave (and elevators) than the fervor of the dance floor or bedroom.

At least the tracks from LotusFlow3r that were previewed did NOT sound like the belong on a smooth jazz station. Bria's stuff, maybe... but "Colonized Mind" and "Wall of Berlin"? What smooth jazz station is that?

"There'll Never B Another Like Me," boasts the beats and bravado fans know and love, while "Chocolate Box" has a flirty fun "Controversy" feel with buoyant keyboards and soulful chants. "

MPLSound seems to be emerging as the critics favorite of all three which is kind of interesting because among the fans it's been the one most people seem the most cautious about. I've grown weary of Prince's attempts to make club-bangers today or even approximate the experimental funk of his past (Black Sweat being an exceptional and in my view successful revival); but these two tracks in particular that were previewed, "There'll Never Be Another Like Me" and "Chocolate Box" did NOTHING for me.

Clay was on hand for a preview surf-through last night, and while there were some glitches and some of the ways to acquire content were convoluted, it should appeal to tech-heads and Prince die-hards with exclusives including lyrics (not the on Target package), never before seen photos and even video footage dating back to the '70's. Members pay $77 for access, and the biggest perk is definitely advance info and preferred seats for Prince's live shows.

The video footage thing is interesting... and of course premium seats are the real selling point for this venture... but the "glitches" and "convoluted" ways seem unavoidable with as graphic intensive as they are designing the site to be. I don't look forward to going pixel-fishing with my cursor looking for content that may or may not play well on my old computer. neutral

Look here: Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth got all very, very Positive reviews from 'so called' music critic! (I mean MUSICOLOGY was stated here in HOLLAND AS HIS FREAKIN' COME BACK!)

Now, I don't believe any critic, and I usually don't even read them, but if his last 3 albums got so many good reviews, and to the fans it was 'mostly, if not all CRAP! then these must be GOOOOD. I mean... very very GOOD biggrin Oh man... I truly, truly hope so!!! razz

I am hoping for at least 2 to 3 good songs. 3121, Musicology and Planet Earth gave me a grand total of about 2 or 3 gems. All the other stuff is for 94.7 or the bedroom. Not my bedroom though.

Yeah I guess there are fans excited about the concept of the album (a return to MPLS funk). However, I don't remember reading a whole lot of positive reviews of "There'll Never B Another" or "Chocolate Box." I certainly am not excited by either of those. shrug

I think that industry muscle still means something in terms of PR/reviews. All three of the CDs you cited were supported by a major label. And I agree, they were NOT all that.

This is gonna be interesting next week cause I see a trend developing and although disappointing I agree with most everyone here that critics don't know SHIT! wink LotusFlow3r as elvator music? What kinda crack is this hoe on exactly? The tracks we've all heard are rockin' and hardly soft therefore her comments only get me more excited for this release and I still believe it's gonna be the best of the bunch.

Also it is interesting that so far MPLSOUND is getting more love since I think it's gonna not meet our expectations but one can hope

Bring on Tuesday!!!
