$77 is peanuts. what if your a prince fam/fan that can't afford $77 / £54 to gain meare access to the site ....what then go to the blackmarket ...get bootlegs ...get rip of poor quality stuff of the net.... Come on Prince's people do the right thing bring down the price to the cost of a CD ... Besides, who said we're getting inside the vault? Wasn't that the case with Crystal Ball? And "The Vault"?

If the price drops, then it drops but this is what it is so suck it up and pay up or don't join at all. Case closed. I hear you Purp. If they can't join the day of the launch, they could always join later, when they "up" the money for it. That's not a bad price considering some artists charge more for separate fan levels. I'm surprised Prince doesn't have a VIP fan section for those who would get extras for paying a little more. And you know that he could but he doesn't. This price isn't bad for me. It cost me $81 to get a monthly MetroCard for the Buses and Subways so I can deal with this. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I do wish that he put the hohner on the MPLsound cover instead of the strat, but hey... ...at least the Linn is on there! ; ) he turned the building where i work into a giant keyboard! Cool when lived in MPLS I used to work in this building to, it used to be called IDS Tower, i worked for AMEX, I am not sure that is the current name now, but back in the day it was. I think it nice that he used the MPLS skyline, Prince has not forgot where he comes from....

Great so Prince website should be for fans/fams who only want to pay $77 dollars ...thus creating a larger blackmarket .... Maybe you can download stuff too for a set price. (remember the songs for 99 cents for people who weren't a member of the NPGMC). So the 'thus creating a larger black market' is not justified. If you don't pay 77 USD you don't get everything but it doesn't mean automatically you get nothing. Formerly known as Parade @ HQ and formerly proud owner of www.paradetour.com

Wonder if he will have the albums available for download on that day also? I might have overlooked something while reading. I am very excited for us and for him. I think this will be a mind-blowing experience. For those that do not like the artwork, so sorry. I think it is nice. according to the article, yes, the albums will be available for download purchase on the 24th. unless *I* read that article wrong... I probably read too fast out of excitement. Plus, people are continuously walking into my office. I probably *thought* I read it all. haha -you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude!

Great so Prince website should be for fans/fams who only want to pay $77 dollars ...thus creating a larger blackmarket .... lol. stop saying that. everything is transparant these days. there is no longer a black market. the entire npgmc catalogue and the entire musicology store is online as we speak in various places, to be downloaded for free. npgmc had a fixed membership price. the musicology store was accessable at a pay per download basis. both got bootlegged heavily but the black market no longer makes any money. it won't be long before the more well known bootleg companies won't even bother to print a hard copy anymore. they sell like 50 copies and they just spread online from there. just like regular releases. gone are the days when we'd lay down $ 90,- for a 2 disc outtake set of sub par soundquality studiotracks or bad live recordings. if anything the bootleg market for prince's rare material is a niche market at best and with digital spreading of files it is on it's last legs right now. that still doesn't fully explain or allow for a 77 dollar membership, which is rather steep, i'll admit. but heck, i spent money on far more uninteresting stuff. i've put aside 25 bucks a month since december and i'll just put up the cash to see what all the talk is about. will it be disappointing? yes, i'm sure it will be. will it be value for money? no it won't, it wasn't with the ngpmc and it wasn't with the life long membership of musicology. but hey, who cares? i've quit smoking and i'm saving $120,- a month just from that. a year's worth of strolling around prince's website and snapping up the occasional new video or exclusive song will do me just fine. i'll bitch and moan, sure, but what else is new? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yeah the math is all wrong ....in fact it will create a black market for his music which is bad for the fams/fans of his music ....??? just don't get it ...and why 1 year that would also create a black market ...for bootlegs..silly policy.... But...no one is saying it will be 75.00 per year. It could be just a small renew fee after a year. I don't think so. He has a business to run. The 3 cd's for 11.98 is already a give away. You can't get everything for free. Hey this is business ....The 3 CD's for $12.00 is great and fair price and we all know Prince will make money as he's has done so since 1997 on his CD's he get's good deals... A concert has a fixed one off price and it's planned months in advance...it's a one off fixed cost and has a large number of people... the MPLSOUND cover is nice.... reminds me a bit of that VH1 special and the opening of it when the narrator was entering Minneapolis and you could see the sky line. In the backgroud Sign of the Times was playing and you could here Prince saying "ya'll came here to get yo Purple Rain on!"
That cover is sick One thing about Bria I have noticed before (and this is just an observation) she has a very strong and masculine jaw line. Yes shes pretty in a lot of pictures but she kind of looks masculine in some others to me [Edited 3/13/09 12:08pm] Dance... Let me see you dance

As an Angeleno & Puprplehead I'm really excited for the coming weeks. I'm just trying to get the inside info as fast as I can so I don't miss a show. I missed P at the Avalon(which is 5min from my apt) because I didn't have my ear to the tracks. BUT, & be jealous, I got tickets for me & a friend for P on the Tonight Show for Wed & Thurs! I going bananas! I don't many Purpleheads in LA so I had to brag somewhere!
I hope everyone out here gets at least a little piece of purple in the coming weeks.

NouveauDance said: TwiliteKid said: I'll agree on the hideous and gaudy, but what makes it cheap? Well if the designer was paid more than $2, Prince was robbed! As someone in the graphic design profession, I'd definitely agree that the cover is...hmmm... not the best design work. However, great designers often have the design dictated to them, and they end up with very little (sometimes no) say in the art direction. I'd say P has always had opinions on what his "product" looks like. Back in the day, I would almost guarantee that he to contend with WB's standards, as well as input (good and bad) from those in his camp (a bit like having others around him musically that would tell him if something sucked or not). Having "emancipated" himself from all of that, he can produce whatever he wants (including the design of said products) -- good or bad. I actually asked Steven Parke -- a past designer for P -- a question about his work (Emancipation, NPS, etc.). He seemed quite embarrassed by some of it. I'd bet money that P dictated a lot of that design direction that Parke had to deal with. Oh, and I agree with the comment about MPLSound looking "cheap." Anyone can get a hold of Photoshop these days, overlay a bunch of images, add bevel effects to type, etc. -- that doesn't make it GOOD design. I'm just waiting for the MPLSound cover to be turned into one of those box lighted signs that has the faux moving water. I could hang it next to a velvet Elvis painting.

Especially if the membership grants us priority seating/ticketing like NPGMC did. I'm excited for the previously unreleased content also, even if we can't 'keep it'. If it's there when I want to view it and it's a high quality format, that's acceptable.
