I'm not paying for downloads. I want a physical CD. Unless I can't buy this new set in a store here in germany, I'll download it for free, because I want it as soon as possible. And I'm not paying twice. Hopefully Prince realises that he's an international star and has made a deal with chains outside the US as well.

I mean Europe for a long time now has been his biggest market, his biggest following so just seems weird he wont strike a deal when we've got asda (wal mart), Tesco and other big retailers here. ? To put this in a bit more European perspective (not only UK): I don't think it is easy to find a retailer that really is all over Europe. Saturn holding maybe, H&M? IKEA of course But not the wall-mart type of stores (sorry, don't know Target). [Edited 3/2/09 23:46pm]

I would recheck that price before I run to Target in search of this deal that is too good to be true....but if it is...hey a bonus i think he is packaging it to force us to listen to Bria. If it ever does arrive in the UK, I will use the Bria CD as a frisbee.

I'm sure that she'll make more out of this package than if her CD were released standalone.if her Cd was standalone, they would be lucky to sell 500 copies, thats why its being packaged with prince.

Target uses Amazon.com to fullfill its online music orders. Amazon have sites for most major countries, so international distribution could be taken care of through those.

I expect the major UK/Europe websites (Amazon, Play etc) will begin taking pre-orders for the CD set soon. As for high street stores - who knows? I can't see HMV being competitive on price for a 3 CD set. I'll be shopping around and getting it online. I'm not bothered about getting it on the day of release, listening to it a few days or a week later is a small sacrifice to save a few quid IMO. Just somewhere in the middle,

Any news of a new Prince album is always good...bit of a shame we won't (as of yet) be able to pick the album up in stores here in Europe but those that really want it will be able to get it off the net easy enough I'd imagine (Ebay, Amazon, Play, etc). Does kind of make me long for the days when Prince would just release an album straight into the shops like every other artist does! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

You'll just have to go without this time. Sorry. My point is, every time Prince does a concert somewhere, or is about to release something...there's always a bunch of fools from the UK who say "what about us?" You never go without, so your pleading always ends up redundant and irrelevant...therefore I repeat "who cares about the UK?" Next you'll be wondering if he'll be playing Glastonbury this year! It's just soooo boring. You are just too funny! How about trying your luck as Prince's personal joke cracker?

That is AWESOME. Can anyone else name an artist that has priced three CDs for a price that low? How about even ONE CD? Hopefully this isn't like the "NewPowerPak." It screams that these CDs wouldn't be great albums individually, therefore the only way to generate interest and sales is to bundle them. I hope that's not the case. We've heard quite a few songs from each and know which songs are on which album. all 3 sound like they could be "Good/Solid" albums (let's not get into great). I am sure the Bria Valente release will benefit from being bundled in terms of sales, I wouldn't have seen that selling many on it's own, not without a major record company and marketing behind it (and that's probably what fell down with the Tamar Davis project). The production etc sound very different from what Prince was doing on the NewPowerSoul 1997/98 era AND his public persona and status is a lot higher after 2004 Musicology/RnRHOF/2007 superbowl etc. He is kind of "rock legend" status now so I don't think the bundle is for the same reasons as the NewPowerPack. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

..mzsexybaby Actually, they're not. They used to own Macy's, but sold that part of the business off years ago. Here's the history. The company that's known as Target Corporation today started as the Dayton dry goods store in Minneapolis a looooong time ago (late 1800's?). It was built up into the Dayton's department stores, they bought Hudson's department stores (already established in Detroit) and then bought Marshall Fields department stores (established in Chicago). They started their Target discount stores in 1969 (I believe) and Target stores grew from there, becoming the major part of the business. Along the way they aquired Mervyns but then sold them some time later. In 2000 they changed the name of the company from Dayton Hudson Corporation to Target Corporation to better reflect where all the sales came from. We changed the names of all department stores to Marshall Fields, and then sold that part of the business off as well. The peeps who own Macy's bought Marshall Fields and changed their name, so Macy's has never been affiliated with Target. So now we're just Target. Thus endeth the Target history lesson. |
