I just did some research on "Q-Tip" and all hope for "$" has been lost. Why is this guy doing a song with Prince? What can he possibly bring to Prince's music that Wendy & Lisa can't? Is Prince still trying to prove he's down with the hip-hop crowd?

In other news, he actually has a better website than Prince. But a musician... he ain't.

Prince & Q-tip have already worked together on the remix of the Greatest Romance... and have appeared on stage together at the One Night Alone Tour in New York City. If you're jonesing for Wendy & Lisa check out their website for "White Flags of Winter Chimneys" and soon to be rereleasing the scarce GirlBros. cd digitally.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Yeah, except for too bad it's not true. C'mon Funkteer, you know where to get boots. I've been to at least one store with you. wink

Yeah but I don't know how to get them for free online like you do. I have bought an occasional overpriced, bad quality cd from the Village record stores. Again, I would rather give Prince my money.

So all that means is that DrFB is pretty well connected. If that was Kathy Adams standing in front of Prince on 10/10/08, she seems to be a very nice lady, unlike the rabid mob posting on this thread.

I've always heard Ruth is more fan friendly. I'm never heard anything good about Kathy, but I've only heard nice things about Ruth -- from several different people.

Ruth was very nice too. If you had stood in the front with me and Cam you would have met Kathy too. She is the one that told me who the harmonica player was and she was very patient during the second show when we hardly gave her any room to breathe.

The best joke by Mr. Nelson would be:

to create a blank track called "$"...or a nearly blank track that ends with "Sike!"

Then load the thing on to the download sites.

I don't (know how to) use torrent sites either. shrug And I have purchased every single official album Prince has released (including multiple copies of several of them -- one to open, one sealed). Still missing a few singles, though. So it's not like he's not getting my money because I have live shows. lol

I was trying to state my opinion that people who own every unofficial release out there get jaded. You must remember the night I was bored waiting for the rest of you to show up and I bought two cds around the corner from the bar, that put me out $80.00. I was all alone when I made the purchase, I don't recall you being with me and I was very open about buying them, on HQ, and I asked people their opinion about the money I paid because I felt like what the hell possessed me to drop $80 on bootlegs. In fact when I showed you and our company my purchase you all thought I was nuts for spending the money when I could get my boots for free. Unfortunately you did not tell me how. I hardly visited the "collectibles" section and you won't find me looking for stuff on ebay either. I am just not that obsessed with having everything that man ever made, and then come trash him on a regular basis on his so called "fan" forums like so many here and there do. I also don't appreciate being called a liar by someone I have hung out with and never showed anything but respect to. smile

well, i can't tell you where to get them because firstly it's against prince.org rules, and secondly, it would be a breach of trust for the source. you are smart enough that if you really wanted to know, you could figure it out by reading the right threads (and between the lines). that's how i had to do it, no one showed me where to find anything. seriously.

secondly, i can't remember the last time i downloaded a live album. i simply don't have time, and i mostly just listen to the same favorites anyway. i actually only have 3 "live/unofficial" songs on my zune (rock steady w/tamar, forever in my life from sott movie, & colonized mind). i'm really not one of those people who has to have everything, it would be impossible and frankly, i have more interesting things to do with my spare time. i generally don't "trash prince". i do like to point out glaring instances of hypocrisy by him, though. lol

(also, the hq collectibles section was for official merchandise only. they did not allow photos or posts about unofficial or bootlegs in that forum.)

finally, please re-read my post and show me where i used the word liar. i didn't.

peace

DP, I didn't really have you in mind when I posted my thoughts earlier and you said that what I said wasn't exactly true. Doesn't that mean I am lying? The fact is I am not a collector but I don't begrudge those that are. I just wanted to drive home the point that those that are calling fans like me idiotic names, probably have a lot more in their collections than I do, and there is a hypocrisy involved in being so obsessive about collecting, and then trashing the man whose work you are so obsessively collecting. Again, that was not directed at you. I have absolutely no idea what kind of collection you have. I will take your "peace" symbol to mean just that and I won't continue this exchange with you.

I don't understand, how in this day and age that someone can't figure things out on the net. I'm not advocating bootlegs, torrents, live shows, or anything... but when I want to find out how to do something, from fix my pc, figure out why microsoft's DRM upgrade button is grayed out, how to make a website, a blog, you just search google and you can becoming knowledgeable about almost anything. Last night, I learned how to perform open heart surgery on a friend who didn't have medical insurance, all because i searched for it! The power of the internet!

I'm 37 ffs Prince! Just release an album the normal bloody way like everyone else does! The 80s are over (ignore the UK charts) and, like you, we've grown. We no longer believe the mystery that you create, we just want the music. I don't care who you've been spotted with or what parties you're throwing any more than you do of me. Christ, even Seasick Steve has more of a grasp on how to bang a song out than you do, and he's only just made it big!

Megastars. Are they really that full of themselves?

Not the same night. 10/10 was the gansevoort show. the night she was waiting for "us" was some night we all went to see days of wild (a band) at the bitter end (a nyc bar).

I'm sorry, but humour and /or publicity R just not good enough reasons 4 this "announcement" from Dr F.

It's not funny in the slightest, and Prince has a much better sense of humour than that... UNLESS it's payback time 4 Prince in a sinister way... everyone scrambles online 2 find the leaked song, but the internet is just a Black Hole, remember?

If it were 4 publicity, it would've been just as effective 2 simply report that Prince was working on a new video 4 the new song, "$".

The whole thing is ridiculous, even with an open mind, and no expectations.

Folks R naturally upset over this.

WHY?

Because, if you've been a Prince fan 4 a long time, U were used 2 Prince doing things his own way, which was unique, bold, unorthodox, and at times puzzling.

These Prince fans grew up with this, and now, they R getting... "Prince attends this, Prince attends that", "Prince was spotted having a Martini", "Prince is upset because he thinks his new song was leaked"...

...and 2 top it off, they're getting it from a damn gossip site, which would've been unfathomable before.

Believe me... I just care about the music... the songs... the new material... but even I have become less interested in checking the ORG or Lotusflow3r lately. I care about Prince's well being 2, but wasting my time reading about a leak that did or didn't happen doesn't appeal 2 me personally.

Fair enough points but is anyone actually 'mad' about this? What's there to be upset about? That people have to wait a week or so to hear some synthetic pop smear? We all know the fate of the song and video already: it'll be collecting dust next to Black Sweat before Easter. I simply find it funny that Prince thinks the public is as gullible as he is, willing to believe any moronic story he puts out. Even his most faithful lapdogs must at this point be aware that Dr. Fakenberry is nothing but a mouthpiece for Prince.

Here's a tip for Prince: If you want to cause buzz over a song, get on the radio or television, ideally both, and play it live. Of course, you'll first need a composition that wouldn't make Hannah Montana cringe for how '2005' the lyrics and music are. Good luck with that part.

OMG!!! So So True. It's sad, but it's been almost 20 years since there's been a true and original Prince record. Do you really think Prince can create a buzz? Yeah, he puts on a good concert when he pulls out his hits, but his new shit and his obsession with covers of songs that weren't even good when they were new is annoying. I will hope and pray as I have with every new release that he will have finally seen the light, but at this point I have zero trust in the man.

Actually, in 2009 the above statement still stands true. Sure, there's the occasional odd-man-out twiddling away, making do on a PC in the graphic arts and music arena, but they really don't know what they're missing. 64-bit processors be damned, Apple makes a spectacular hardware product, and folks either love them, or should at least try them.

He has all the answers....2 bad they R all wrong.
It's obvious that the "leak" is a tongue in cheek reference.
It's like saying .."I got a little surprise 4 U." while hiding a gun behind U'r back.
If U want 2 be angry at the wording go right ahead, but the rest of us will be anxiously awaiting the new song...which may be a single or the next song featured on the LotusFlow3r site.
I would think Prince fans were a little less literal.
The bitching that's going on here shows how deep the whiners' minds really go.
