Young Orgers, do your parents like Prince?

Eh, random question. I know my dad digs Prince, but I thought it was in a more general way. (My dad's a music buff) But All of a sudden he puts on a cassette and "Thunder" Starts blasting. I had no clue he actually owned any of his records besides Emancipation (bought it at the 99 cent store *snerk* )

Hm...I don't know how I would describe their likes....

My father likes doo wop, rock n roll, jazz.....anything before and during the 50s-80s. My mother likes motown, 50s-70s, a little bit of 80s stuff. They don't concentrate on any single group or person.

As far as liking Prince, my mother likes him more than my father does, I would say, but neither of them like him as much as I do. My mother did tell me though, that when her mother was living, she really liked Prince. biggrin So maybe I inherited that interest lol

I recently got my mom interested in some songs, but neither of them were ever into him before I was. Prince is only a day older than my mom, so you'd think she would have listened to him at some point, but I guess it just wasn't her kind of music.

LOL, it's not meant to be! It's the truth. Being a Prince fan of the "younger generation," I'd heard "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry", but she hipped me to the older stuff. Of course I made the confused face when she mentioned the title of the song, but the music was just so damn funky!!

"Housequake" is one of our favorite songs, too.

I watched PR with my mom thinking she would love it. A minute into the movie she goes "He's not Puerto-Rican is he? God I hope not." By the end of the movie she had called him an abomination and was looking at me like "I can't believe you made me watch this." So I'm thinking my answer is no.

It's quite the same with my dad, he likes Prince because his music is good, but he's not a real fan. He owns everything from 1999 to GB, TGE and Emancipation, but actually never plays Prince anymore, because he says he has to listen to him all day long anyway because of me lol

My mum is not into music that much, she likes songs like Purple Rain, Little Red Corvette and When Doves Cry... well, no further comments on that confused lol

Nope my parents have no interest in him, but the reason I got into him was because my Grandma had the greatest hits CD. I was into MJ at the time and thought I'd see what all the fuss about this rival guy was. Turns out he was much better razz

My mother loves prince..she's the reason I am a fan now..she made me watch Purple Rain, a movie she snuck to see without her parents permission. She also told me she cried when she saw it lol..and whenever Prince comes on television or she sees his picture..she goes in a minor frenzy smile
..In her chills, I'll force a burst..Erotic thrills, so good, it hurts..My motions 2 her velvet, she'll strike it as love..Rain from her pelvis..ended with doves..

I have Prince as my msgr window background. My mom passed by and saw it and asked if that's the man that's a singer and looks like a woman confused I responded "yes" and all she said was "oh".
I don't think either of them are fans.
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

My father likes the Time and identified with them better but he liked Prince enough to bought his 1979 record. My mother was one of the many that was on the PR bandwagon and she always talked about how PR was popular movie in 1984.

Does 29 count as young?

My parents don't understand Prince's music. Dad doesn't get it, but then again, he doesn't understand most of modern music since Elvis. Mom likes modern music to a certain extent but when it comes to Prince she says: His music doesn't sound normal. Lol! In one way it doesn't sound "normal" but that's exactly what I like about it. It's beyond normal, it's fantastic! The only Prince song she really likes is Purple Rain. Good for you mom, but that's like digging a grain of sand in the Sahara desert smile
