I'm not young any more, but I remember being 14 and keeping my parents from hearing some of the songs as I was too scared they'd ask me what they were really about. Then my Mother saw the cover of the SOTT tour book, laughed and said that now she knew he wasn't gay, as he was really a lesbian... she thought she was being really daring and funny with that comment... disbelief

it seems the world has moved on a bit, good for you young org:ers!

Well, I'm not exactly young, having recently had a birthday that's too close to 40 for my liking. But anyway... My mum loves Prince. She's 63 now and has a dodgy knee, but still managed to dance the night away at the O2 on the 13th September. Went to the aftershow too. cool

I went to a fair number of shows during that run and that was my thank you to her for all the baby sitting she'd done. biggrin
RIP sad

I am not that young...but...my mom thought he was weird(80's-PR). I found out though that my mother-in-law is a big fan. My husband said he was introduced to P in the late 70's through her. I want to go to a concert with her. She'll be fun.
Peace. Love. Prince

My Mother is a Prince fan. She's the 1 that got me into him. When I was in the womb she would put headphones on her belly and Prince was one of the artist she played. Once I got to the young age of picking music to listen, she'd tell me what songs/albums I couldnt listen to but whenever she left the house I'd listen to them anyway.

Eh, random question. I know my dad digs Prince, but I thought it was in a more general way. (My dad's a music buff) But All of a sudden he puts on a cassette and "Thunder" Starts blasting. I had no clue he actually owned any of his records besides Emancipation (bought it at the 99 cent store *snerk* )

What's a cassette?

Well this thread was here before the other pointless threads trying to mock this one showed up. Some of y'all need to lighten up.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

My mom introduced me to Prince! I remember she had a VHS that she taped MuchMusic the whole day and it had most or ALL of Princes videos up to whatever year it was. I would be there using the end of the vacuum as a microphone (remember Controversy very well). Edit: He (plus Tom Petty) introduced me into Telecasters.
