How exciting!  i'm expecting a flash file with some pictures of prince and bria. pictures we've seen before, with all the snippets of music we've heard this far, plus one more unknown new snippet. the flashfile will also have some info, like "coming soon THREE new albums by prince and special guests". we'll all be disappointed and we'll all sulk and hate. meantime we'll all be playing that damn flashfile a million times just so we can listen to that one new snippet over and over again. 
i guess we'll know in two days. 8 pm jan 31st in america is about 2 am feb 1st in europe so i'll be checking the site early sunday morning at about 8 am. god i hope prince proves us all wrong. wouldn't it be great if we logged on and there were a flashfile of an angry prince, looking mad as hell, throwing cd's at the screen, yelling "here's your 3 goddamn albums motherfuckers, i hate you, i hate you. aaargh". and then download links to all 3 albums would appear   Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach | |

Didn't read this whole thread but, I bet lotusflow3r links to other sites like housequake (for videos, etc.) and they are pulling or leg about closing down. They had come so far only to shut down now? Maybe Prince wanted that logo thingy for himself?

That's a good observation. probably on track with that one I'm starting to believe that the ticket on the site was meant as a sign up to update fans on the pending concert which was supposed to take place tomorrow night here in Los Angeles. I mean, why else would it list "L.A." as the site on the ticket? If it was meant as something like a notification of membership ($77) or a date/time the site would be open (Jan 31, 2009), don't you think he could have worded it much better? The ticket would have mentioned...say..."Planet Earth" as the event location. Stating "Los Angeles" kind of implies exclusivity, don't you think? I think what most likely happened is that he was in negotiations to perform in L.A. on the 31st (remember those Nokia reports?) and a deal for some reason couldn't be reached. I think the $77 noted on the ticket was most likely going to be the admission price for the concert itself, and not a membership fee (as some have suggested). Of course, I know none of this for sure. But, one would think the outcry of the fans who've already shelled out $100 for a "lifetime membership" to his former music club...coupled with a weakened economy in which the only real option for survival is conservation of funds...would be enough for him to avoid going that route. I mean really, would it be worth it to pay $77 for digital downloads of music files (even if there was all 3 available) and access to a few video files? Smart money would say no...especially when the better sounding physical CD's will be in stores at some point. At least that's what I'm hoping for anyway. Like most everyone else in here, I want some new music. And, I am willing to pay for it. But, It's going to be very hard to justify spending my hard-to-come-by $$ on just access to them via a website. I'd much rather have the choice to purchase the songs/albums I want. That's the way it should be anyway... However it happens, hope everyone enjoys the new music! I'm sure I will! | |

Once I get that all down, I then shift focus to the lyrics. To be quite honest, I'll let even the most cheesiest of lyrics slide if the groove is tight! And, with P...it almost always is!! Just because Prince usually is very unpredictible, I belive this time he will be very precise and open the site exactly 8.00 p.m, january 31, "L.A time"...if that is what the ticket means...(because this time there's another person involved who may have some influence on the matter).

I wasn't around on the Net to join his previous fan membership plan, but it seems to me that just posting a price and expecting people to click on it and receive no confirmation afterwards [by email] and no info whatsoever as what that membership includes [the terms, services, etc.] would be a very odd business model indeed. What kind of membership can you sign up for when you don't know what the terms are?, what you are getting for your money?
I never took this $77 as the price for the membership plan, I just thought it was for the concert or simply for decorative graphic/online purposes.
