Yup. Over on Housequake, it is being reported by a "DJ7" and one of the mods, that there has been a delay, and that we should NOT expect the new music on the 31st. They R saying the site may open then, but NOT 2 expect the albums. No sources at all, but they R both saying that "they R being told"... Dj7 says: the SITE will B open but dont xpect 3 Albums..... I read this as he/she meant that the sight might open on the 31st,but that we should'nt expect for 3 albums to be released. Meaning that we won't get all 3 albums that Prince said he would be releasing. This is how I interpreted what Dj7 said. I wouldn't say most musicians have business sense. but when they get out on their own it seems it's apparent they lack it. Prince doesn't seem to have one ounce of business sense. It was a joke... I realize that he has the talent, and someone else may have a better knowledge of business. However, he seems to be a very intelligent man. I think he holds the amount of business sense that he needs, and even if he were more "business inclined" he would still continue to do things different than most other artist. That just seems to be his way. [Edited 1/29/09 5:44am] -you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude!

We just want to buy the music (and live tickets). That is all. There is no need for a club for that. You must not have gotten great concert tickets from the "club" and you are still upset over it? *chuckles* No seriously...He was doing things right when he had the club. Although I cannot speak for everyone, I had a fabulous experience with the NPGMC, and hope he brings something similar back. Even if it is only for a few years. That is a few "hopeful" front row tickets to concerts. [Edited 1/29/09 5:45am] [Edited 1/29/09 6:34am] -you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude!

What was also nice was getting that really nice tour booklet that had 4 albums listed in the back in which we never received too.

the Dj7 comments are nothing more than common sense. The physical albums won't be released on the 31st. They really can't be released then. That simply doesn't allow for even a normal (for Prince) amount of hype preceding their release. A couple of articles at the beginning of the month aren't going to cut it. You need time for national press coverage, as Dj7 said the inserts to be created and printed, and just as important, in store advertising to be set up. For example, if it's walmart, there will be signs at the entrance/exit to the store for a week or two before the actual release telling people what day it's coming out.
These things aren't going to be even started in advance of an announcement of the release date and an announcement of who the retailer is or there would be leaks. What I expect on the 31st is - the web site to go live (I suspect the $77 price on the ticket on the site is the sign up fee) - announcement of the release date of the album and who will be selling it - announcement of plans for a tour - streaming copies of the new albums as well as music and videos from his back catalog - A store to order CDs, DVDs, etc, and perhaps digital downloads. If he does digital downloads, he hopefully learned his lesson from before and does something that is compatible with iPods.

But I sincerely hope no "announcements" are made about anything. I hope it is just there for sale.. I have learned from the past that Prince's attention span is quicker than my cats.. He will swap up the project very quickly.. and if there is actually is a fee to get in his site.. I can see all these promises being broken at some point. I hope if he is selling an album, it will be ready when the site is.

That is how i read it also. think about it.. why on earth would he promote all 3 albums right now, and only put one out. If he is teasing with all 3, he should release all 3. cause I am sure not gonna give a flip about these albums in a few months if they aren't released now.

I could be wrong but I'm sure something went wrong this month. I'm surprised P stated the 3 albums would hit the web and that retailer right after the holiday break whereas he had no confirmed deal yet. Surprised he said that whereas he had not picked his new musicians yet. I mean if you want to release three albums at a time, you need a band that has rehearsed properly to play gigs and do all the promotion (tv shows). Maybe he is ready but how come there are no more articles in the papers? How come there are no reviews at least of LF yet? I find all this quite weird. But isn't it what he did with TRC as well ? I don't remember clearly the way he worked things out bacj then. Didn't he release TRC throught the web first and later in stores ? Maybe that's what he's gonna do again. [Edited 1/29/09 10:19am]

So 'if' there's a $77 joining fee but no new music, what's going to be offered that will make a lot of us part with our cash?
There's a huge recession and most of us were 'lifetime members' of NPGMC. IMHO, A few old videos and promises of priority purchase of tickets for to-be-scheduled concerts won't cut it.

[Edited 1/29/09 9:33am] I'm not sourcing ANYONE. I'm pointing out that the information given is, and I paraphrase slightly, 3 new releases in 2009. 2009 is 12 months long, while all three releases could come out in January, it is also possible that any one of the three could come out at any time in any one of the other months that make up 2009, I'm firmly planted in denial

I think the new website is the appropriate media to explore earlier material/projects(I seriously doubt he would tho).
I do think the likes of Roadhouse Garden (shelved), and original concepts (incl original and alternate sequences) like Parade, Dream Factory, Crystal Ball, Graffiti Bridge, Rave, and The Dawn are perfect projects that contain interesting historical and career storylines. Plus live accounts like The Second Coming.... A great opportunity to give true accounts of WB stories, and Band backgrounds (Eg Revolution) behind these projects, I think this approach and content would attract publicity and praise.
