SHOULD PRINCE BE LIKE KATE BUSH?

And I don't mean put on weight! (only kidding KB fans)

With the news that Prince could be releasing 3 albums this year and many people already critising some of the songs off them, do you think Prince should put out less material?

Kate Bush went 10 years between the Red Shoes and Aerial albums! Two albums that I love.

I for one am not suggesting Prince wait 10 years, but do you think we would get a much more developed/produced album, better sounding, better lyrics, better everything?

IMO, I'm happy with the news of 3 prince albums but a friend of mine who is a massive KB fan and a distant Prince fan suggested Prince puts out too much and should slow down a bit. This just got me thinking.....what do you guys think.
I heard the rip when you sat down!

I'd rather have loads of material and be able to pick and choose what I like and then burn them to a CD. Much better that than to have 1 album after waiting years and finding that I don't like some of the songs.

What would happen if we waited years and he was in a New Power Soul mood??!! That would be bad.

Would you rather have Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth, or just one of them with whatever Prince decides were the best tracks on each? The beauty of it is we all have our own favourites and can make a killer CD to our own tastes. I know there are tracks that people love which I hate and vice-versa.
RIP sad

shake

I keed. I keed. I actually don't think NPS sucks...at least, I don't think it's any worse than Planet Earth.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Uh...no.

Why? He can give me everything he's got, and I'll buy all of it.
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

Yeah, thats a big part of the problem. This kinda reminds me of Bono's comments saying that by himself P lacks the ability to self-edit (which is true), but the problem is that compared to U2, Prince's music and audience and their musical preferences are extremely diverse, which unfortunately means that if he were to try to self-edit too much, parts of his audience each album would miss out on things they really enjoy. E.g. if I were to boil Emancipation down to one album it'd probably look very different than those whose musical preferences lean heavily to some side different than my own.

So my response to this question is no..
Change it one more time..

Please don't pull a 10-year hiatus, not five either. No, no, no. Keep it comin' and we can pick and choose from a heckuva lot more good stuff than most artists can produce themselves.
If he's got some gems he wants to sit on to form a certain kind of album that may have a certain theme or just gel together well, then I'm for him holding on to some songs for a year or two. But as long as he's making music, I want to hear it.

i think that if prince slowed down a little, he would come up with another masterpiece.

i like that he releases often, but i wouldn't mind the wait for something amazing.

Bono and his band are a pale imitation of themselves, writing derivative tunes which play well on the radio - wow that's cutting edge! He should keep his self-serving mouth shut. Product Red is b**lsh*t too.

Prince thankfully takes his own path, and I'll happily take more music than less biggrin

Here's what interesting about U2, and while they amuse me, I don't particularly like them:

They were champions of great music, pushing the envelope, doing their own thing. Then they came out with an album called "POP" that was supposed to be so tongue-in-cheek. They did their PopMart tour, with all its supposed winking and nodding in the direction of artistic sarcasm.

And then proceeded to only record saccharine, message-missing pop music for the rest of their careers.

Compare "Bloody Sunday" to "The Sweetest Thing" and you'll see my point.

They told everyone they were going to make the switch to crap rock. They let us know. We all just thought they were being cute. Jokes on us.
