It's such a simple melody there's no doubt in my mind that two people could come up with it independently

TMBGITW sounds nothing like that. If anything, the background music in that song sounds like it's lifted from PRINCE -- possibly a case of counter-plagiarism.

Is that link above this post the actual song in question? If so I really quite like it. The video doesn't help matters but the song ain't too bad. Kind of stuff I occasionally listen to.

Actually the opening notes of that song remind me of "If I Was Your Girlfriend". Prince probably based his synth line around the intro of this song. He definitely changed it enough to make it his own though.

Remember that game show "name that tune?" and people could name that tune in 3 notes or 4 notes... not today... so many songs sound a like for the first few notes...

I always thought Good Created woman sounded like Mica Paris song..My one temptation.

They are quite similarly coincidental... unless Prince had heard "Paradise" at an Italian club back in the day, and somehow the song was frozen in his brain and thawed out years later.
