behaviour toward each other in this forum

hey people

as always when new tracks pop up we get a lot of discussion about them.
some people like them, some people don't. some people get more hyped up
than others and more often than not emotions run high.

i'm all for open discussion and everyone's right to express an opinion.
but i'm getting quite anxious and slightly disappointed lately because
of all the downright bashing and cussing out on threads.

it's new music people. talk about the music but please think twice if u
disagree with someone before stepping into a cursing battle with another
person on a thread discussing songs.

we're all here because of the music 1st and 4most. that's how we came to
this site in the first place. the music changed over the years and so
has prince. not everyone is gonna agree, so what? that's the beauty of
an open forum. different thoughts to bounce off one another.

would you cuss someone out in a record store simply because they were
going through the prince section with a friend and commenting on some
of the albums? exactly. so why do it online?

please just try to get along a bit better biggrin

I posted something similar to this a while after I joined the ORG, regarding how some orgers downtalk one another, but I posted it in GD and some ppl started going off at me! Talkin bout us over in M&M are jus too childish and weird etc etc etc.
There are certain ppl who are always negative here in M&M and it's sickenin. I understand Imago's vybe. He's sarcastic, weird, crazy and fun and while he's very critical with regards to Prince's sexual orientation rolleyes , he's still tolerable. But others...I jus scroll past certain post and threads dependin on the name I see. The Mods should quarantine those orgers. There's already too much negativity in the world and those of us that keep a positive head won't like to be catchin that shit if it happens to be contagious.
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

I'm a "kid", give an example of me having been unloyal towards other in this forum!

Looking around me in my country, I often have to feel more intelligent and loyal than most people living around me, even if it hurts. Age says something, but not everything.

Plus this is a forum mainly about music and I have grown up in a family full of musicians and I breathe music day and night, I think I do have the right so state my opinion, regardless of my age.

And, as long as I don't hurt anybody personally and on purpose, I think this is what we are all here for!

thumbs up!

I just had to say something about that post - taking a bunch of people and saying they're all the same. I'm not a young rebellion fighting for the rights of the youth, but sometimes I feel like people don't respect me just because I am young and laugh along whenever I say something, even if I do have reason and a proper opinion!

While some disagreement and debate is a great way to spice up a forum, it is very easy to let things get out of hand when people are dealing with faceless names.
That being said, I can say that orgers are generally much more civil than what can be found on other forums. I occasionally read a few sports forums and they are 20X nastier than whatever we read on the org.

Going off at you, JayJai? disbelief That's just downright hostile. You were bringing up a relevant issue. The regular downtalking and name-calling makes the Org a place where some people target specific posters and make it unbearable to express oneself freely without anticipating an attack from specific Orgers.
Yeah, the negativity here does get sickening. nod
I like Imago's threads and sense of humor. Rock on, Imago! headbang
I also avoid interacting with Orgers that are hostile to me.

I wish that people wouldn't let their emotions drive them to aggress against others. neutral
I also believe in accepting and respecting the many different appreciations for Prince's music. However, there isn't a one and only correct way to appreciate it. Loving music is an individually unique experience for each person. nod

I am in agreement with IstenSzek in that we should respect each other in this forum. I also think that what he said also needs to be said over at GD and even P&R too. I don't like the fact that people in those parts of the org and even in this forum think it's ok to get away with calling us names and calling us "wack jobs" for being the fans that we are and think they can get away with that. Some people come here to start stuff and it's not right. I admit, I can get lost in some of that too as I did last night with Bart in another thread but it's because I care about all of us here at P:M&M. We are fans and we should be respected. We're not trying to hurt anyone here. I shouldn't be called "crazy" or a "sycophant" because I really dig Prince. The same is true for people who call fans "haters" and I may be guilty for that one. No one should be slagged for being a fan. PERIOD
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I find that I express myself more in writing or blogging, than conversation. It can at times bring the aggression out of me. I'm sort of like Prince. Anyway, apologies to anyone on this blog that I offended, and would try hard to tone it down, though some of the stuff I commented was researched.
