This is why Prince doesn't use tape recorders.

Then he can always claim that he was misquoted when he reads the piece and realises it is going to cost him dearly.

Money Princey, you will need it, for your law suits.

I truly believe this is a possibility. In the same way that Madonna has adopted and pushes the teaching of the kabbalah - i believe they both feel it gives them a sense of higher being-ness. Both have scaled the heights of success, fame, wealth and realise they needed something more. I dont think they're completely insincere about spreading the word, but i think righteousness plays a part too.

Betcha Madonna dont dig homos as much as she used to. She all kabbalah hetero now hmmm I think ppl need to stop looking up to celebs so much. At the end of the day we all just end up with a sore neck falloff

The way Prince talks out both sides his face lately, I wouldn't believe it even if he did.

Now motives have entered the mix....is he claiming misquote to stem the backlash or was it really a misquote.

His contradicting behavior skews any statement he might possibly make, IMHO.

Pretty much what happened pre-flood. Evil abounded and God repented making man. Journalism has died. They have no idea that when they "misquote" someone it is the same a lying. Don't let it upset you, there is a reason God said vengeance is mine, they will pay the price.

I would normally agree with this eireboy 34 but I can't ignore his comments.
Prince has the right to believe what he wants but I can't support this type of hypocrisy.

This is a sad day for me....it's the end of an era. I'm getting off the boat.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I can not for the life of me understand why it's so incredibly difficult for some people on here to understand that there are some of us on who love Prince's music, not Prince himself.

For some of us (sane people, it would appear) it's about the music, not the man.

And before you weirdos say you can't appreciate the music without appreciating the man....well, you're wrong and you're all off your fucking rockers anyway.

Exactly.

I went to a JW forum and they are saying Prince had to be misquoted because JWS are supposed to be "politically neutral." They also were critical of him worshipping himself, which is idolatry.

Hopefully, he will be excommunicated and we can have the real P back.

Excerpt from a former employee...
"The above is my perception of what occured. I was there, and
that's what I thought of it. I did not intend to invade anyone's privacy,
nor have I signed a non-disclosure agreement with any of the parties
mentioned. I also want to add that I truly enjoyed my years working for
Prince, but the man treats people as if he thinks he is actually "better"
than them, like he's royalty or something,
and that makes it hard to look
back on working with him fondly."

that's your example of speaking down to the rest of the human race? one unhappy employee? eek i mean sheesh, have you had any kind of job? EVER? I thought you were going to give me a direct quote of the Tom Cruise and Matt Laur kind; you know the kind where the celeb outright tells somebody else that he knows it all and they are wrong esp when all evidence points to the contrary.

I don't mean to give you a hard time, really, but come on! People expect too damn much of this man at times- as they do of most celebs. I'm sure someone from your life has felt you've been condescending to them...we've all done it and we really don't mean to but we're stressing so we act out. Now is Prince a difficult employer and fair weather friend? Yes, I am sure of it. But I would take that particular person's comment with a grain of salt as I expect they would get it from whatever celeb they worked for and it depends on what their attitude was. Maybe they got what they gave. Celebs can't trust too many people and the business hardens them. I wonder how many of Madonna's or Keanu Reeves employees think they're jerks. hmmm

Oh look, it's the "it's said by an ex-employee so it must be a lie" Prince defense crowd. Except that Prince's past is littered with numerous unhappy employees -- it's just that most only speak off the record due to GAG ORDERS. So Michael Koppelmann's on the record quote speaks volumes.

As for all those who wait for Prince to speak in person: can I just remind you lot that you're putting your trust in a man who screwed songwriters out of money by neglecting to give them proper due? Can I just point you to the liner notes for Crystal Ball and remind you that they contain numerous "errors"?

Can I also remind people that Prince wasn't bothering with incorrect things in articles when those incorrect things were making him look good? Funny how it took a huge backlash for ole Princey boy to "react" via a lame blog. Of course, he puts all the blame with the reporter, ignoring that he's opposed the use of notepads and recorders for over a decade.

Oh, and can I also point out that this is merely yet another example of Prince's homophobia? Some of us haven't forgotten about the "fabulous" post on L4OA. And there were several posts on the PPML (now sadly removed from this site) discussing some homophobic behavior. Oh, and there's Alex Hahn's book which caused quite a stir. That's a lot of documented homophobia. Hmmm, who to believe, the reporter (who isn't a rookie), or Prince, who has a history of foot-in-mouth + homophobia + lying?

this is a great thread. dang good points, all. nod and i'd like to add that prince shouldn't have said what he said about gay people. and soup. mind you i didn't read the thing myself, but it's in the new yorker and besides i've read about it at the ORG enough to know god would never tell gay people to abstain from soup. prince is wrong about that. prince, in future stick to pancakes and leave off the soup!!! mad biggrin

And yet you remain on prince.org. That speaks volumes too- presuming you have a problem with Prince. hmmm
Sorry but I do prefer, but not solely rely blindly on, Prince's words and actions and I don't give a crap about gag orders as they would be null and void if the employee is being discriminated against. If I were a gay employee who had been treated unfairly by Prince b/c I was gay (don't know how I woulda gotten hired in the first place) I would be writing a freaking book and filing a law suit!!!

I agree that Prince's objection to tape recorders yields unflattering print results but that's for him to deal with and it still doesn't mean that what is ultimately reported is FACT. As for the post on L4OA - didn't read it, wasn't a member of whatever that was, don't know who its from so can't and won't comment on it. But if you'd like to share here or via orgnote I am open. Lastly, if Prince doesn't approve of homosexuality that still does not make him a hatemonger as some are insinuating. Sorry but it just doesn't! You can't rob people of their moral beliefs just b/c they hurt your feelings. Prince is not destroying anybody's life or setting anyone's home on fire (shit the man didn't even vote) so with that said, I think some, not all, just take this stuff way too seriously. disbelief And if it is that serious for whatever reason then folks need to check out of the org and every other Prince fansite. Call it a day and move on. nod
