oh great another greatest hits cover show yawn

chatterbox Whatever.....U know U'll be there just like the rest of us NYers.
Cut the Front son.

u never belive me when i tell u that i flat out REFUSE 2 c prince become a cover band of himself and other artists. disbelief if i truly wanted 2 hear that then i wouldn't b doing my own cover band or seeing other cover bands doing that. i'm dead serious when i say that i will NOT go 2 main show of prince's ever again until i hear that he drops this greatest hits bullshit and cover tunes. i have plenty of concerts 2 listen 2 if i want 2 relive that era.

give me the prince that focused on his new material 4 the majority of the show and just a little dose of old material. that vault is screaming 2 b heard and not 2 mention other older material that has NEVER been giving the proper attention of being played live.

tell me u wouldn't b salavating over hearing prince do something like "just as long as we're 2gether" "i'm yours" all the way up 2 hearing "f.u.n.k." live!
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

No, I hope he's not there. I don't want to hear him bitch and moan about how Prince is stuck in the past with playing nothing but old shit, if he plays the old stuff the majority of the show, cause you know that's what L4OA's gonna do. No, stay home Freddy. You my boy but nah playa.

don't worry i won't b there no worries about that ..health issues aside 4 me not being there. u may call it bitching but in reality, it's the truth about what i'm saying.

hey he's an artist that needs 2 branch 4wards not backwards. there r places one can go 2 relive that old glory if they choose 2. doesn't mean u have 2 spend ur hard earned money seeing someone sing songs mostly created over 20-25 because someone has never seen him live b4. i know some would b happy about it because it's their 1st time and they'll take anything. but come on now, i look at things from a artist persepective only. he has multitudes of songs that have never been played live b4 or rarely played live. it's time 4 those songs and more importantly 4 prince 2 stick 2 his words by retiring those songs and moving forward.

Freddy...my man.
Isn't the point of a concert to revue the songs released in an artists career?
Of course he'll play songs from Planet Earth (much 2 u'r dismay), and 3121, which R his 2 most recent releases.
I mean....U hated the Musicology tour because of the same reason, but he played Musicology songs in the mixas well as plenty of songs a casual Prince fan wouldn't know.
He also did the same for the ONA tour....so I don't get where U come off saying he only plays greatest hits.
ALL MUSICIANS PLAY GREATEST HITS IN CONCERT (unless it's conceptual, or if it's Lauren Hill....not falling in that trap. razz )

Besides.....U don't like any of his new shit anyway, so be happy. hammer
Case Closed.
[Edited 10/8/08 8:13am]

i never said i didn't like his new shit..the only one being planet earth album which besides guitar and shoe isn't even worth talking about imo. F.U.N.K IS THE SHIT!!! headbang and turn me loose is cool as well. the musicology tour was very lukewarm 4 me in that i understood that it was advertised as the last time the hits would b played, plus capitalizing on the 20 year anniversary of purple rain. that being said, i still feel that 5 songs from his recent album isn't enough play in a concert tour of the same name. 4 god's sake each time u went 2 the concert he was handing u his latest music. so y not play more from it? the ona tour was a bomb slamming tour even tho it consisted of older material but the difference was, IT WASN'T THE HITS!! that's a show i would like 2 go 2. something where it's not the same ole drivel.

take a look in2 prince's career and how he would have a new album, tour and per4m songs from that album with sprinkled material of past glory, but he hasn't done that since emancipation dropped.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

You guys do realize that the $1000+ was for the charity gig.... but the real show was the after set for $312 and from what I hear so far... was better and much longer... over 3 hrs than the 1000+ charity show.

You could have bought tickets to either one.

i agree ..truth in that prince is no longer daring live by just sticking 2 the old and true ...nobody wants him 2 leave that era xcept his TRUE fans that look 4ward 2 something truly inspiring.

I really like this black shirt. These shots really show his long neck, which I've always thought is quite lovely. Still ridiculously cute at 50! giggle

Thanks for posting these photos. smile
