Received my book today. It's a beautiful 'coffee table' kind of book, with lots of lovely reminders of his 21 Nights in London, I love the way it says which night certain photos were taken. That one with him in the yellow suit outside the O2 HAD to be taken on 6th September, one of the nights I was there, because that's what he was wearing at the aftershow!! razz That's my favourite pic, and his room in the Dorchester, with the TV on... I could just imagine him lying there flicking through the channels, when he got home in the morning! cool I think it's great. Some really beautiful photos cool

he filmed the video for somewhere here on earth that one day in prague, i suppose, and went back to london the next cool.

london to prague only takes couple of hrs..
the vid had to be shot during the night cuz there's nobody about.. just prince, a bridge & a pretty girl..
it was hardly a complex shoot, it must've took him longer 2 apply makeup & get dressed up 4 this thing than it took 2 film..
then back 2 blighty..chances are he dozed on plane b4 nxt performance!
still, very impressive!

When I saw him on 6th September, he'd just returned from Prague... and he was in a BRILLIANT mood, so he must have enjoyed his little trip! wink

I couldn't wait to get home because mine was coming in the mail today. I opened it very carefully and started to page through it when I realized the binding was ripped from the back sad
So I called my local Borders to exchange it, luckily they had some and I opened it right there at the store to make sure that I didn't get another damaged one.
I was also suprised by how big it was and can't wait to listen to the cd.

I thought it was shit.

The pictures are so posed and contrived, there isn't a single one which looks natural - not even of the band.

There are way too many random pages with blurry pictures of the airport or the motorway, or random pictures of a maid in his bedroom.

The CD is the only redeaming aspect.

OMG I totally forgot mine and a man just came knocking on my door with my parcel from Amazon. I near sex weed myself. I am sure he thought I was crazed.

I just can't get over how heavy it is. It could be a dangerous weapon. lol

The smell. Ohhhhh drool the pictures and the cd. The first cd that I have played since Planet Earth. I download everything but insist on hard copies of Prince stuff.
The book is exquisite.

Am I sad that I have only scored the top seal and slipped the book out and left the plastic still on? I just don't want to damage the cover boxed
Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

Yeah, but there are loads of people who do it, love it and embrace it. Like Elton John, Paul McCartney, to name but a few.

Besides Prince has enough music to mix and match so I can't see him getting bored with it.

but i highly doubt the artists u name have a vault of 500-700+ unreleased music that's dying 4 their day in the sunlight or the hundreds of released music that begs 2 b played live but instead it's the same old drivel.

i felt really sorry 4 him one night in london after he did black sweat and the response after the song was done was very lukewarm. prince then responds "ah prince ur such a tease, play us something we know"

now that is a very sad statement 4 a artist that is trying 2 branch out and create and share his latest efforts but his "fans" don't want 2 grow with him, and want 2 contain him in2 a small box of time.

constant posts from his "fans" always want him 2 stay in that box, well i got the box cutter willing 2 free him from that time zone.

Maybe it's his own lack confidence with how Black Sweat was recieved.

Maybe he knows it's not really up to scratch.

It's an okay song - not amazing and he knows that but doesn't want to deal with it.

Maybe he's annoyed at himself for not being able to write the instant hits that he used to.
Shut up already, damn.

i like the poetry/lyrics to stuff we don't know yet.
especially the ones about space/aura/chakra/protein
i love it when prince reads stuff like brian greene
"the fabric of the cosmos" and writes songs with an
ounce of that stuff smattered into them.

at the least, those lyrics make me wish i could be
listening to the music they're set to.

as far as the photography goes, the photo's are one
for one beautiful. but like many said, a few photos
of the girls and some of the street/hallway stuff r
just taking up too much space where i'd have liked
to see some more indigo aftershow stage shots or at
the very least a bird eye view of the symbol stage
in the O2 arena.

the quality of the book is very good. nice paper in
a good jacket with nice lettering down the back.

the glossary of the clothes in the back made me falloff

can't really find too much negativity in this one,
even the cd that comes with it, although not a real
favorit of mine, goes well with the mood of the art
in the book. it's a cd to listen to when you are in
the middle of flicking through the pages. as such,
it's a nice soundtrack.

as a stand alone i think the cd meanders and teaters
on boring but along with the book it's nice.

oh, one more thing. and you're gonna slaughter me for saying this
but seeing these randee st nicholas pictures of prince and fifty
gazillion shots of the twins reminded me once again of the filthy
cool chemistry prince and mayte had, especially in most of their
photo's taken by randee.

that one picture with prince and mayte laying on the bed in all
white clothes and the little dog, mia on the bed too. that is a
picture that's so intimate and real, despite being "posed" that
it puts the entire book to shame.

ok, you can commence to kill me now lol i don't care. i still
like the book but the atmosphere here is cool serenity with an
ounce of mystique. they don't breathe a real sense of warmth or
life.

black sweat isn't a great live i will grant that but the studio version kicks ass and 3121 should have been played more often than it was in london. musicology was done every night .

but i like how u say "not really up 2 scratch" that made me chuckle and hence proves my point on how his fans want 2 keep him the 80's.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

besides, the 8:54 minute tripped out bass heavy funk version he played
of the song on 06-27-06 in the beverly hills hotel is amongst the best
and most enjoyable live performances i've heard from him in the last 2
or 3 years. that's a total trip. the bassplaying is wild and the beats
are infectuous and drippin'

thumbs up! As much as I love the old stuff, I don't have to hear it all the time. I actually listen to the newer stuff (last 10 years) more than anything in my personal time. I've been a P fan for almost 30 years and it's great to hear him still doing new stuff. It's a shame when people aren't willing to grow with an artist.

The last time I saw him live was the 7/7/07 shows in Minne and I had a wonderful time. The mix of old and new was good. I thought it was great when he opened the Macy's show with 3121 and also when he played Guitar. The song was ok to me when I first heard it, but after hearing it live, I loved it. They tore it up. I wasn't crazy about the slow version of The One U Wanna C at the main concert because it was awkward and you could tell he and Wendy hadn't really rehearsed that much. However, I think the regular version would play very well live. I also remember loving Satisfied at the aftershow. So, I welcome hearing new stuff live.

The same thing happened when I saw Erykah Badu. I have the new album so I enjoyed hearing the new material live. However, many people that I talked to disliked the show because they didn't know the material she chose to perform. But my question is why is that the artist's fault? Why should an artist suffer because people are cemented onto memory lane? The great thing about life is that with each new day we have the opportunity to create new memories. And artists have the opportunity to create new art. It's a shame so many are willing to embrace that.

xmas Finally! Received my book this afternoon. I've just reviewed it twice and now listening to Indigo Nights.

The photos are gorgeous. Prince, NPG, Chelsea, The Twinz, The Clothes, The Scenery are elegant and beautiful.

The photo of the Scriptures, the Shield, the Gift, the Symbol and the Elements is superbly magnificent.

Its a piece of art : music, fashion, architecture, photography, poetry, this book combines them all - its beautiful.

Do I hear "vanity project" anyone?

So this is an intimate collection of photos? Bs folks. Airbrushed and posed photos? With a model (Chelsea Rogers) as the maid? Come on... Would it be too much to have some live photos? He did play 30-odd shows... And Ms. Randee St. Nicholas certainly took enough time (and I would hope some photos) at the final aftershow... But not one in the book! It really doesn't depict the 21 Nights at all.... Poor!

I got the book - I love it !!!! its sooo gorgeous - the packaging is just tremendously lovely - I love the way the CD is slipped in the pocket of a symbol. The pictures are fab of course. Thought it strange that he should waft in from Luton airport ??? but on the whole its just lovely and well worth the money. Any body know why he thanks Michelle Gayle (from Eastenders?) have no idea what she did to warrant it ???
