What makes you think Merecedeses are overpriced? Or any other elite cars for that matter? I'm no expert in economics, but I assume their prices are determined by the market - that is, demand. The same goes for clothes, real estate, etc.
Btw, Prince is a pauper compared to Russia's billionaires. He's in the music business, not oil&gas.
Goes to show it's all relative.

I say most 'luxury' cars are overpriced because many car companies that make cheaper cars are the same ones that make the expensive ones.

These days only a few companies own everything.
Toyota - Scion and Lexus
Honda - Acura
Ford - Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, Volvo, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mazda
Daimler Chrysler - Mercedes Benz, Dodge, Chrysler, Freight Liner, Jeep, Maybach, Western Star
Hundai - Kia
VW - Audi, Bentley, Porsche and I think Lambo
GM - Hummer, Pontiac, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Saab, Saturn
Nissan - Infinity
BMW - Mini, Rolls Royce
And that's just a few of the parent/sister companies.

Toyota makes Camry and Lexus.

A 2009 Camry starts at $19,000
A 2009 Lexus starts at $35,000

If it's the same company, I refuse to believe that they don't use some of the same parts to save a few dollars. That's how big business works. Some people think that brand name stuff is always better than non-brand name stuff, but in reality, many companys make an expensive version and a cheaper version of their products to hit all markets ...happens with food products everyday and also clothing companies. There's more poor and middle class people in America than there are millionaires and billionaires; and companys would be stupid to just focus on making products just for rich people when rich people are the minority after everything is all said and done.

For the price of a fully loaded Mercedes, you can buy like 6 or 7 Hyndais. Yeah, Hyndais are cheap and are no where near as good as Mercedes, but I have one for everyday of the week, so that's a different car every day and less wear and tear on just one car. falloff @ idea of Prince rollin in a Hyndai Sonata with rims and tinted windows. falloff

Dude, you got some Metro North money for me to spend to get to White Plains? lol lol If I can't get to Wal-Mart on the Subway, then nah. But then again, I like Metro North so maybe I'll swing by when the money is right biggrin lol

There is a Walmart in Rosedale, Queens, not too far from the Rosedale station stop. Take the Long Island Railroad to Rosedale station;get off there and walk less than 2 blocks, it's across the street..

There is also one in the vicinity of the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island.Take the Long Island Railroad to the Mineola station. Then take a bus going towards the Roosevelt Field Mall in (Garden City area). If it's still there, it's just before the bus goes into the mall area.

I know this is hard to believe but, some of us like ballads and P is really good at writing them. I do not believe the celebate business for one min he writes those ballads about someone or some incident.

I would like to quote Wendy & Lisa..."The other truth is... and almost ALWAYS is... that it is a song, and sometimes you write what rhymes, and what sings well, and... you just make things up!

.

-----
That may be true for Wendy & Lisa but I do not think P just wrote everything because it rhymes (LOL) that being said if he is celibate for the purpose of waiting for the right person good for him.

I usually don't respond to posts as ignorant as this, but I felt compelled to this time. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the right for ALL citizens in this country to have equal rights, to be treated fairly as human beings with dignity and respect. He died because some idiot assasinated him. He didn't die for anyone to have the right to vote. Don't diminish/reduce his struggle to "the right to vote."

Having the right to vote means that someone has the OPTION to vote or not to vote. That is the right that ALL citizens should have. It does not mean that they have to go out and vote, especially if it conflicts with their spiritual beliefs. The right to CHOOSE is the issue. When black people did not have the right to vote it meant that we did not have a choice. Prince, and the rest of us black folk now have the right to CHOOSE whether we want to take part in the voting process or not. Exercising one's right not to vote is as much about freedom as exercising the right to vote. It is not grounds to kick someone out of a country. That's a very ignorant proposition. Shouldn't people have the equal right to have views that are different from yours or even the majority for that matter?

Also, if you have such a problem with Prince and his beliefs and lifestyle why are you on this site posting? Where are your facts and evidence to contradict anything he has said in this interview. I am all for people sharing different opinions here. However, your post is so vitriolic that it makes me wonder why you would spend time reading an interview and posting comments about a "sorry sack of shit," as you described him. You really need to get a life.

The idea of "not voting" is dangerous and counter-intuitive to the ideas of MLK and the activism of the Civil Rights Movement. It's especially sickening to hear a rich, pampered African-American espouse the views of non-participation in the political process at a time when we are on the verge of possibly electing the 1st Black president.

How can he comment on the injustices of corporate America and multi-nationals when he discourages the only process available for average people to make changes in those institutions.

Just because his views are religious/cult based does not make them anymore credible. The bible also has been used to promote racism, sexism, homophobia, war mongering, etc.

And intelligent design - give me a break. Instead of studying the same book over and over again, P should investigate some leading scientists.

It's time for him to go back to his Beverly Hills mansion, secluded from people who have been affected by the realities of life, and make some good music. He's got too much time on his hands.

By telling people in a national publication that he does not vote, he has effectively discouraged people not to vote. He's selling a book, music and his point of view. Why did he feel the need to express this backward perspective? It's another method of preaching door-to-door and probably more effective. Unfortunately, celebrities have more impact on popular culture than we would hope. If just a few JW's, Prince fans, or whoever are pulled away from the political process, it only means further weakening the disenfranchised. 600 Floridians stayed home with a million feeble excuses. I would rather have him telling people to vote for Nader!

If you were active in the Obama campaign, would you want an African-American superstar, who reaches millions of people, telling them that he finds no reason to vote. C'mon, this is so irresponsible, counter-productive, self-defeating and hurtful. It's a shame that huge white artists like Springsteen are out campaigning for Obama, while Prince is out selling the Watchtower and telling people not to vote! History will look down on his choice the same way it did when Sammy Davis Jr. and James Brown supported Nixon on the campaign trail.

I hope their is a rightful backlash against his narrow, elitist, out-of-touch, fundamentalist ass.

Interesting read. It's cool to heard Prince's feelings from his mouth than from people who think they know his feelings and thoughts. As for the voteing issue that's his choice not to vote. I think everyone should try to vote but everyone has the choice to vote or not to vote. Their are many people in this country that do not vote and they are not jws.

I think Prince is being very irresponsible. Of course he can't dictate whether or not a grown adult chooses to vote, but there's a reason that he mentions his own voting preference (of lack thereof) within the context of this interview.

At first I thought that a Prince TV network would not be feasible enough, as popular as Prince is the audience is still limited for certain products. Now with Howard TV (thru on demand), I see that this could possibly work. I think an actual network would cost too much to operate but something on the 'on demand' stations would be cost efficient.

After the Eagles got the big payout you would think others can smell that WalMart $$$.. haha.

It is so sad to see people like you who have no respect for those with differing opinions. You are guilty of the narrowminded elitism that you accuse Prince of displaying. He has the right not to vote - period. If anyone is so simpleminded that Prince's assertion that he doesn't vote leads them to not vote then they should not be voting anyway. If someone exercises their right to take part in the voting process I would hope that it was because they feel strongly about certain issues and through logic and thought have decided that the person they vote for represents them. The decision whether to vote or not should not hinge upon whether an ENTERTAINER decides to exercise his right to CHOOSE not to vote. That's insane.

omg, what great leaps in assumptions is this? lol

i debated another orger about this JWs choice to not vote bcuz to me it didn't make any sense. but Prince clearly stated that he does not vote because of his religion. if anything it may make him look bad in a historic election like this, but i don't see who is going to stay home because Prince chooses not to vote based on his religion, unless they themselves are JWs who would probably stay home anyway. i mean im a huge prince fan and why would i stay home on election day because he is? i don't get it.

and where do you get prince going door to door tellng people not to vote? you totally lost me.

Why does the fact that Prince is an exceptionally gifted artist who has worked his butt off for more than 30 years to earn every penny that he has make it "especially sickening" for you that he does not vote? The man lives a lifestyle indicative of his hard work, one that he can afford to live. He is not living off of anything but the riches that he's EARNED for his hard work. What is your point, really? Should he be "especially" thankful that he's no longer shackled and picking cotton? Would it be "especially sickening" if a "rich, pampered White-American opted to exercise the right not to vote? What's the point of staing that the he is a "rich, pampered African-American?"

How can he comment on the injustices of corporate America and multi-nationals when he discourages the only process available for average people to make changes in those institutions.

Are you serious? What affect will "average people" have on The Federal Reserve or World Bank? I am not going to comment on this because I don't want to take this topic somewhere most are not prepared to go.

I don't get your post. I am not trying to be argumentative, but I am struggling how out of an interview where he states that he is celibate you get that he is a womanizer and a hyporcite.

You said that you wanted the message he once had in his music back, but Prince is 50 years old. He is a man who has seen and experienced more in his lifetime than most people can ever imagine. Hopefully, we all grow, evolve and mature as people the longer we are here on Earth. So, why would you expect or even want Prince's process to be stunted? I would hate to see him acting the same way he did 30 years ago. Winston Churchill once said that if you are not a rebel at 20 you have no soul, but if at 40 you are still a rebel you have no brain. The point is that with increased knowledge and experience will come wisdom and inevitably change. At 33 I am not who I was at 25 let alone 18.

The only constant in life is change. I just don't get why people on this site rail against Prince for changing - afterall, he is human. If you don't dig his stuff anymore that is cool, but check the reason why. Are you angry that he does not fit into a box that you designed for him based on your perceptions of who he should be, how he should act, what he should believe? We don't own him folks. We can either roll with it or walk. I respect him as an artist and man. So, I choose to continue to support his work. However, if I didn't I certainly wouldn't be on a fansite talking about why I no longer support him.

Are you serious? What affect will "average people" have on The Federal Reserve or World Bank? I am not going to comment on this because I don't want to take this topic somewhere most are not prepared to go.

Just because his views are religious/cult based does not make them anymore credible. The bible also has been used to promote racism, sexism, homophobia, war mongering, etc.And intelligent design - give me a break. Instead of studying the same book over and over again, P should investigate some leading scientists.

It's nice to see that you are so open-minded and respectful when it comes to the religious/spiritual beliefs of others.

I hope their is a rightful backlash against his narrow, elitist, out-of-touch, fundamentalist ass.

omg, what great leaps in assumptions is this? lol

i debated another orger about this JWs choice to not vote bcuz to me it didn't make any sense. but Prince clearly stated that he does not vote because of his religion. if anything it may make him look bad in a historic election like this, but i don't see who is going to stay home because Prince chooses not to vote based on his religion, unless they themselves are JWs who would probably stay home anyway. i mean im a huge prince fan and why would i stay home on election day because he is? i don't get it.

and where do you get prince going door to door tellng people not to vote? you totally lost me.

NUTSHELL! woot!
Princey don't vote because the JWS do not believe in voting. I don't believe they all out discourage it but I have heard they are of the mindset that voting is irrelevant and that the system will remain the same regardless of who is in office. I vote in local elections mostly and as much as I love Prince I'm not about to stay home on the presidential election day just cuz his ass will. I wonder if the JWs get the same tax benefits as other religions/churches. Hmm might be something worth voting on. LOL

Snap

Hmm... the television channel... I guess we have an answer to why Prince has been so agressive at removing videos elsewhere.

What's going to happen when the JW's show up for their cut of the 21 Nights money and they try to tell Prince this:
