People forget that Prince is essentially self-employed and has to pay for his 'business' - I don't profess to know much about it but I would imagine that putting on a show can't be cheap, he has to pay his staff, logistics, admin, performers, rehearsal time, costumes, instruments, insurances, travel, hotels (and these are just the basics - I'd hate to think of all the other stuff he has to fork out for), and lest we forget the dreaded 'tax man'. The man needs to make a profit and be able to be able to keep the business going for the rest of the time too.

So all those people who remarked that he's being paid too much need to run a business themselves before they open their stupid mouths.... So there.

Come on now...that is what I am talking about. Over paid...Paaaalease Get yo money .... About 6 years ago the brotha couldn't get the cover of a magazine .... We might me in the middle of a "New Power Soul" era before we know it.

Wish I knew! Article in this weekends Orange County Register newspaper states "His Purpleness will close out Saturday's portion in a rare (someone say first?) festival appearance"

I hope I'm not violating any rules by asking this....

(and if I am I apologize and please snip this post)...

...but I was wondering if this live webcast can be recorded and if so, what's the best way to do it or the best software to use.

I'm sure a lot of you are wondering the same thing.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

Although Newspapers are going out of print, u might want 2 pick up
2day's Daily News 4 April 24th, 2008.

Prince is on the upper right corner of the front page and also front
page of the LA.com section.

It gives u full Coachella info.

Here is some things I found online;

http://www.la.com/blog/Pr...esert.html

Prepare For Purple Rain In The Desert

I love it when rumors are true.

Unless they're about me making out with boys under the bleachers.

Actually, I love those too.

For weeks there has been speculation that The Purple One was gearing up
to play Coachella, but I didn't actually think it would happen.
PRINCE?! In the desert? In my dreams.

Well hitch your wagon and hike up your hose because the artist formerly
known as the artist formerly known as Prince is officially on the bill,
Saturday, April 26 .

Stay tuned to LA.COM for your guide to the festival of the year...
And here is a Coachella cheat sheet:

Have fun 4 those going & look 4ward 2 ur reports.-j7

I'm still holding out hope but that would really suck if they don't show Prince's performance. Although I knew this was too good to be true.

This is business as usual. He didn't let MTV show his concert for the Rock In Rio show back in 1991, BEFORE the Internet so we should be used to this by now. Before someone accuses me of kissing Prince's ass or being a "fam" I'm just trying to put perspective on this. It's no surprise and I wish he would allow us to see the shoe but, oh well. I'm sure it'll be on the news on Sunday and/or Monday.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Purplecam, post #18:

just hope Prince doesn't pull no shit like "no online live" stuff with Coachella. This is Prince we're dealing with here.

I think you're psychic because you did mention this in your past post. lol But actually, I'm not surprised either, but if this is true that his performance will not be aired, then I figure it will probably be because he feels the people that actually paid to come to Coachella and see him live, and will be standing out there for hours to see him play, should see his performance and not viewers online that didn't pay. I guess that's "business".

Would have been nice to see the performance though, but then again this wouldn't surprise me if the rumor is true. Hey, at least there are other pretty good artists performing at Coachella, that viewers can watch for free, so I'll just check the schedule for the artists I'm interested in seeing perform.

On another note, it would be hilarious (for some) if Prince sang "PFunk or Funk(?)" on Jay Leno the night before though..it will surely have the fans talking... lol

That's why this doesn't bother me. Once you've seen how someone works and their patterns with things, you get used to it. It doesn't bother me too much and it really surprises me when I read of people who've been fans for years and years act shocked by the things that he does because he normally acts the same way with many things year after year. I can't and won't be sad over this. Disappointed yeah but sad no.

It looks to me as if none of the headlining shows are going to be on the webcast. Roger Waters isn't there. Jack Johnson is on the schedule, but it seems it's not his headline show which is being shown (unless I've read it wrong)

Maybe the headline acts are never webcast?

There was a post a couple of weeks ago on the one of the Coachella website forums saying 'I like reading the replies on the prince.org message board about just watching his performance on the webcast as opposed to buying tickets. They will be in for sad day...'

...maybe they know something we don't?

I remember watching the Coachella about 2 years ago(?) online and they had acts performing at 12noon shown live. I know they re-broadcast performers that performed earlier in the day, where viewers online could watch the performers they missed, but I guess it's different this year. Also, there apparently are about 4 stages with various acts performing at the same time.

lol Well, I hope I get to see a few artists perform, that I've never seen perform before. but heard about. I guess we'll have to rely on Dr. Funkenberry to give us a report on it. I wish him well with the performance anyway, I'm sure it will be a good one.

I'll probably watch about 1 or 2 acts and then shut off the computer. I don't see too many names on that list that would be of my interest, they are more or less for a younger crowd, but my son likes Portishead, Mark Ronson, M.I.A., and Little Brother, so I'll have to let him know they are performing.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
