I just hope Prince doesn't pull no shit like "no online live" stuff with Coachella. This is Prince we're dealing with here. neutral

I was thinking the exact same thing and it seems likely he'll pull that shit.

Also with it all happening in the US, we oversea'ers might even not be able to watch it online because of restrictions or licence deals etc. That has been seen before...

But besides that, I think it's great you Americans get to see some more of Prince, now that he seems to prefer Europe quite a lot these years...

If you are looking for rooms, try the city of Banning the just built a new hotel off the freeway, i dont remember the name, but im willing to bet they have rooms.

Also closer right off the highway is the MORONGO Indian Casino Hotel it looks real nice, and you could gamble! I seriously doubt they would be full, Its fairly new and I would imagine they dont market if effectively.

I have some friends in the hotel bussiness, if i come up with anything else ill post it.

And be prepared to shell out $$$ for ANY room...Motel 6's in the area charge up to 3x there normal rate. It's insane...if you're going with a group...lots of people opt at renting a house nearby for about 2 or 3 grand (I'm talking like 10-15 people chipping in)...

what is believed to be his first festival appearance ever

wouldn't that be Rock In Rio back in '91?

Yep. And he also performed on the "Rock over Germany" festivals in '93.

Any orgers needing a place to crash? I own a house in Cathedral City where I (along with some other Coachella bound friends) are staying in. If you're interested let me know. Plan on bringing a sleeping bag or something as I have no furniture. (I haven't been able to rent out the damn thing and now I'm glad.) Plus there's a kick ass pool too...

Seriously...here's the downside...

-110+ degree weather
-long ass line to get in, cant leave
-you park miles away in a dusty ass field
-one route to get to and from the highway, were talking tens of thousands of vehicles and trailers trying to leave all at once on this ONE route..

It really sucks the fun out of the festival..makes you question if it's worth it. Maybe I'm just over music festivals...in the '90 (in my 20's) I went to all of them...now...not so much...it would take someone like Prince to make me wanna go but since I've done Coachella couple times in the past couple years and know what it entails and how much $$$ I end up forking out...I'd rather watch it online....

I'm hoping for something more like...

Sign O The Times
Computer Blue
Little Red Corvette
Controversy
Cream
Fury
Kiss

You can almost count on SOTT, Computer Blue and Fury not being played. He NEVER plays Fury, which I have always wondered about.

Why I won't go...

1)Price of Tickets
2)It's in the Desert
3)I hate music Festivals
4)The rest of the line up sucks
5)He only playing for 45 min TOPS
6)I can guess the songs he's gonna play.

Not worth it IMO.

Seriously. I've been to the Desert many times. I can't see going out there in the HEAT and the DUST for a 45 min Prince Show that for intents and purposes is going to cost over 250.00. The cost might be justified if there were more bigger artists to go see.

my first thought is "yup, that's what prince is gonna do", but this is coachella. not only is he going to be pissing his fanbase off (and we're used to being pissed off by now), but the entire coachella audience, both physical and virtual, is gonna be peeved. of course, maybe after the whole youtube thing last fall, prince is trying to see if he can break his record of how many people worldwide he can irritate in one fell swoop. shrug

Ok, weird.

Last year I overheard my (then) boss say that he was gonna bring Prince into town for this year's festival. I thought it was a joke and I laughed at the thought.

Now....I wonder. hmmm

The Picasso-style graphics is one of the best official Prince graphics I have ever seen!!!! Cool to finally see it in decent quality. Talk about a new project?

There was a very similar or the same image on one of the T-shirts sold at the 02 gigs last summer in London – I was really tempted but for the £35 price tag the quality didn’t seem that good regretted not getting it though tried on eBay but no luck!

is this festival like woodstock?
it looks like the less cold/wet/muddy version of the glastonbury festival...
i notice some nice british acts in the line up 4 coachella.
maybe there's method in his madness..i'd love him 2 get crazy with fatboy slim boxed

i'm not sure i want 2 c prince in wellington boots, but this might mean there is hope yet 4 a gig at the glast. festival!?
he will b in europe afterall!

this pic is from 2006..he obviously likes this image...was this the shirt tht u saw at o2?
