shrug oh great! another appearance somewhere I can not reach shrug And all we get is Crawfish festival, etoufee festival, rice festival, festival international, jazz festival, zydeco festival, and amungst other festivals and he hasn't come here yet... rolleyes not fair (pouting)

Angelic...he played Essence Festival in 2004 at the Superdome in New Orleans with The Time.... He even snuck in a 1-hour funk/rock set BEFORE his 2+hour set in disguise(black wig,Kung Fu outfit, sunglasses, rolling around on roller skates). He would later return as "Prince" and play with Wendy, Sheila....but the highlight had to be him performing "I Feel For You" and "Sweet Thing" with Chaka Kahn. It was awesome!!!

If Prince should decide to go with bikini brief or disco balled thong at Coachella...let's hope that he manscapes.

yeah, i know that already, I decided I didn't want to go b/c I was in this very stupid relationship and my mind was all clogged up with confusion. A very sad time for me. I regret going now b/c I would've been all in the mix but then again, he was with Mani just giggling rolleyes But things happen for a reason...oh well, next time huh? Don't worry, I had eyes there and he told me everythig...
Um... let me warm up my vocals
Me ME ME ME ME...U U U U U!

audience....thanks for the strawberry fields clip

i laughed out loud

as for this coachella festival decision, to me it just reaks of greed

when i went to Bonarroo last year, they had a Prince image painted in black on the green walls surrounding the grounds, next to it someone had spray painted a big $ sign as if to say all this guy cares about is cash

prince playing this festival makes no sense to me, really

but for some reason, i still want to go smile

The reason he commands 4 mil. (if that's real) is that there are only a few artists, new album or not, capable of drawing a large audience, and that are proven to show up, no bullshit no violence and deliver a great performance.
MJ , Van Halen anybody? any Hip Hop artist?

Exactly!
I never understand the mentality of people that start going on about 'he's only doing it for the money'. Prince LOVES to perform, it's obvious, it's his life....why shouldn't he get paid for it? At the O2 the ticket prices were more than fair, much cheaper than a West End show!! He did his best to cater for everyone, main shows - hit list, aftershows - for the more hardcore fans, and still incredibly cheap for someone of his status! It really gets on my nerves mad He's probably the best musician/performer alive today - why shouldn't he get mega bucks - he's earned it through 30 years of hard slog!!

Ahh, I feel much better now biggrin

I hope he is trying to reconnect.

I have to admit to feeling rather nervous for him. With one of his own concerts it's filled with fans that have paid to see Prince - with a festival, it's full of people that have paid to see a few different artists.

I wonder how the crowd will react hmmm

I don't think we need to feel nervous for him, Prince is a consummate performer, he's been doing it for 30 years!! He knows what he needs to do - I think he'll blow them away! biggrin

Why the symbol? I could understand if he was still the symbol and you added Prince next to it so folks understand who it was but why now?

U got it all the way right Jeffiner. Madonna, Barbara Streisand, etc can get whatever they want 4 there tickets but the minute Prince is paid, he has 2 be fukin greedy. This man has paid his dues and it’s about time he gets paid, plus he will give u your moneys worth without all the stage props and thousands of people dancing on stage taking away from the artist u really came 2 see neutral

Why is this a sticky in the Music thread, while the Dubin talk has been contained to the Concert section?

People forget that Prince is essentially self-employed and has to pay for his 'business' - I don't profess to know much about it but I would imagine that putting on a show can't be cheap, he has to pay his staff, logistics, admin, performers, rehearsal time, costumes, instruments, insurances, travel, hotels (and these are just the basics - I'd hate to think of all the other stuff he has to fork out for), and lest we forget the dreaded 'tax man'. The man needs to make a profit and be able to be able to keep the business going for the rest of the time too.

So all those people who remarked that he's being paid too much need to run a business themselves before they open their stupid mouths.... So there.

TMZ article
Getting a shot of Prince's face is as elusive as a smiling Jessica Alba -- or at least it was, until last night at the Green Door in L.A. Even Jeremy Piven was shocked.

Great Points. A lot of people on this board no nothing about running a business and somehow think that everything should be free.
