Did Prince inadvertantly create Text messaging?

With Princebonics? he started using them in 1980 on 'Dirty Mind'

any other instances or other people use similar syle writing b4 then?

I can't tell u about others.
As far as i know he was the first one who made it popular. He should get credits for that. If he is the inventor ,that i don't believe.
=the wheel has been invented more as once.
