My word!!!! 1999 is the weakest track imo. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

It's an incredible album. In it's day it was mind blowing!! The first time I heard 1999 was when it was first released and I loved it instantly, but as with much of Prince's music it takes a few listens to "take it all in". He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...

When most people were listening to Thriller I was drowning it out with 1999. I had to buy it 5 times, Once on vinyl(worn out), twice on cassette(worn out), and twice on cd(first one stolen). In my opinion it's the best album ever made.I can understand we all are different and have our own opinion, but I don't understand how anyone cannot love this album.Once again we're all different and that's the way the world goes.

this might be Prices best album ever
the perfect blend of pop, funk, rb, electro funk, & soul this record was huge in Washington DC. Prince smashed open the doors with this joint. Man I wish I could go back to that time. The 9th grade was the bomb Dance... Let me see you dance

but it doesnt look like you have that type of connoiseurship. too bad Uh, the songs themselves are still the same regardless of the format and I have plenty of vinyl..... Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

The 9th grade was the bomb I'd even go as far as it's one of the best albums ever..... I dunno, maybe you had to live it.. ya dig? no offense to the younglings, but back in the day...1999 was just amazing..and still it stands the test of time

This album is out of this world good.
My favorite. The overall sound of this album is amazing and could have only been captured by Prince. Its unique, funky, and all his. Perfect.

Something In The Water... is genius I think. I love that quircky little synth line, and the melodies don't seem like they should go with the music. Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

The released version sits better with the album as it is more synthetic sounding. The un-released version has piano. Equally as good. Christopher is right though that that era has excellent bootlegs. Not that I own any. I just know about them and talk about them alot! Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy!

haha, I think it depends on the people replying. Prince's music is something that doesn't always come easy and it sometimes takes a while to get used to it. I've had my fair share of "grower albums". this was one I worked with the hardest (TGE, I also put a lot of time into)... and in the end, both have become my favorites because sometimes it takes time to appreciate things. And it seems like 1999 was a grower for a few people, so they're more understanding. I know what you're saying, though. A couple of months ago, things might not have been as calm in a thread like this. But its nice to come to ones like this every once in a while. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
