If Prince wants to be free from whatever burdens him, I wish him the best possible life. Everybody deserves to have peace of mind living in such a troubled world that values and worships a human, even though he is not desirous of such worship.

And free from crazed people who invade his privacy, everybody needs their private space! Freedom is valuable and not to be taken for granted, with what relative freedom we may have in our lives.

I think if Prince put on a pair of jeans and a relaxed shirt and tried to look normal and walked down the street he could get away with it but would kill him not to be recognized at all, I'm not sure he knows what he wants. confused

couldn't agree more - plus it is natural at 50 to want to do what you want and please yourself and you have to be ruthless to do it - ask any 50 year old
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

Yes he wants to be free. Mainly from being judged for being
himself. People critisise his faith but would have a heart
attack if the same happened to them.

He also wants people to listen to the messages he his trying
to share.

...Prince has always been sensitive, insecure when talking (unless he's performing), because he says what he wants to say with his music, and his lyrics, and believes that is the manner in which he says what he wants to say in the best possible way that he can say it. I understand that. In person I'm shy and rarely speak and feel uncomfortable speaking. I much prefer the written word because I can express myself much more openly and reach down deep into myself to bring forth what I want to say and believe...

On this part of what you're saying, what came to my mind was some of the things he may say in concert accompanied by background music. If he said a lot of those things in person, just in an interview or in passing, he would be totally written off as having lost his mind and not to be listened to. But, only in concert, he might feel truly free to say what he wants because that space on stage, that time he takes up, belongs to him.

Excellent thread for thought and great posts everyone.
